I recently bought a brand new pc with vista 64 bit, after running 1946 on my old one perfectly with XP. After installing the game, and following all the hints and tips on the community help (turning UAC off, Admin priviliges etc etc) it still doesnt work!

All the drivers are up to date and there is no hardware problem, you just get the spinning disk and then nothing. ive heard this is a copy protection issue with securom! Im ripping my hair out over this as I have no idea what else to try! Ive been playing il2 for years and this is so dissapointing!

It's securom. I and many others had it too.

Solutions are :
1) Get the US DVD which apparently does not have SecurRom
2) Get the downloadable version, which has some other copy protection.
3) Solve it in another way we can't discuss.

It really is very sad that you pay good money for software which then won't run because of cheesy copy protection, and then you can't discuss a possible solution to turn your coaster back into the game you paid for......
