Put a Hold on what I just posted.
The "Message" has returned. 2 mins into SLI action.  Cannot beleive it had been playing for hours the past couple of nights. Switch on this morning and bang. Taking the P*** out of what I have just posted. Ah Well.  The only real plane I have ever flown in.(Pah! Booked for Florida next year. So this will change.) You're still getting the error even after installing SP2? After I installed it I haven't had a single black screen crash.

OK. Vista 64 SP2 is fine.
It was merely a programme update I required for game. (I am not talking about IL2.) All is sweet.  The only real plane I have ever flown in.(Pah! Booked for Florida next year. So this will change.) As far as IL2'46 goes.
It runs like a dream. It is every other game/Sim. That has caused me problems. Thanks to all who helped me Set up this SIM on Vista 64.  The only real plane I have ever flown in.(Pah! Booked for Florida next year. So this will change.)
