Hey guys. Just wondering does anyone know anything about a problem i've been having. It seems that if i begin a career and select a certain plane, the plane stays the same for that campaign but moves back to the default plane every time the career moves on to another campaign. E.G. Begin a career at Palau flying a corsair, after completing Palau and moving on to Iwo Jima, i'm back to flying a hellcat even though the corsair is available for that campaign.

I know its a small thing and i could just start the career over. But does anyone know how to stop this happening. Can i tweak the config file in some way?

If I remember correctly, you have to explicitly select the planes for all campaigns when you first start the career - if you do this it should then go with your selection as you go from one campaign to the next.

I think it may be possible to edit a file somewhere to amend aircraft selections for future campaigns in an existing career. Perhaps someone else can confirm this and provide details?

AndyJWest is correct, you need to change all the planes in each campaign before you start the career. Also, you can modify the selection by going into the conf.dat file that is located in the missions\campaign\county\name of career folder. For instance, I have a dgen German campaign located at:

C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Campaign\DE\dgen_i_jg27_africa1naas2

in that folder is the conf.dat file, which you can edit with notepad, and it looks like this:

Just change the plane with the proper plane code. It does have to be a plane that is available in the selected campaign, though, and I don't think you can change it once that campaign has started, so if I wanted to change the Ardennes campaign to a Fw190_D9 I would be SOL if I had already played the first mission.

Ah! Good good. So it's just a matter of selecting a plane for each campaign before the career is generated. Just tried doing that and the Dgen log (..Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946) confirmed the changes to default planes. Thanx for your help lads (^^)y

Yes, you can can change planes in the middle of a campaign. Just go to 'status.dat' file ( in the same folder ) and change the plane there instead of conf.ini file. When you do you will fly one more mission in your old plane then upon the next mission you'll be in the plane you changed to for the duration of that campaign. Then when next campaign starts, you'll be in whatever the conf.ini says.
