Hi guys, I have seen a bit of 1333mhz RAM around recently, and was toying with the idea of getting some instead of running the RAM at half the FSB speed, which is obviously the next best thing....
Actually, I am pretty much set on running it at 667mhz anyway, as that RAM is so cheap right now, but would guys think there would be much real world performance gain from using 1333mhz RAM at 1:1 instead? thanks for your thoughts... ------------------------------------------------------------- "Over Dieppe, the wing was immediately bounced by a hundred FW 190s and a few Me 109s. I'd go with 4gb (2x2) od DDR2 1066 if you plan on overclocking.
I have these and they rock. Besides, 1333 is DDR3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flying online as NORAD_Shinjiro |

Everything that I've read shows minimal to nonexistent performance gains from RAM speed, once you're above 667-800 MHz. Extending what Urufu said, the higher speed sticks are good for overclocking and not much else IMO.
I'm running my 1066 (5-5-5) ram at 847 (4-4-4), and measured no differences between the two. ---------------------------------- Flying online as 453_Whittle E8400 @3.8, 9800gtx+ Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3.4 Uni-joint / hall effect sensor stick guide: http://www.jpfiles.com/hardware/uni_stick.pdf |

Thanks guys, not THAT bothered about ocing to be honest. Although I usually have a quick go at it and see how limited my chip is.
I think 800mhz RAM will be good enough to go up from 667 at least for a start. 2gb of PC6400 is less than £20. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Over Dieppe, the wing was immediately bounced by a hundred FW 190s and a few Me 109s.
