Ok, so I had 2 campaign folders in the \Missions\Campaign\DE directory. The one I wanted to get rid of, so I deleted the unwanted campaign folder (instead of deleting the campaign in the game interface).

Now, however, the other campaign (the one I wanted to keep) isnt even showing up in game! The files are all still there and unaltered, but its not listed in game. Is there a way I can continue this campaign? I was ~60 missions in and dont really want to restart

I have three campaign folders in the \Missions\Campaign\DE directory (1946): 46Bomber, 46Fighter, and Bf-109. These are the stock campaigns that came with 46. Only the Missions are stored here.

The record of your progress is stored in the Users Folder. Each Pilot has his own folder and your campaign progress is stored there.

can't you just restore the deleted parts from the recycle bin? Sounds to me you deleted something else than you describe. Anything deleted the normal way should end up in the recycle bin and can be restored. If not a system restore to before the mishap should fix it. A lesson learned:NEVER "just" delete files or directories belonging to programs. You WILL get problems if you do.
In case you need to re-do the campaign, just select Instant Success (
UNselect "No Instant Success")and you should be where you left off pretty soon.

hey, thank you both for replying

@steve_v - yea, I have those too. But when you do a dynamic campaign, it creates a new folder (something like "dgen_f_crimea41doe1"). I had two of such folders for 2 different campaigns, and deleted one, now the other doesnt work.

@MaxMhz - unfortunately I was dumb enough to empty the recycle before running il2 again (doh!). And you're right, it does seem like I must have deleted something else, but I really dont remember deleting anything else. I was thinking that maybe there was some linking I wasnt aware of in the DGen folder or something I would have to mess with, but its looking like Im just going to have to start over...

Wait a minute before you start a new campaign. I think I know what the problem is but I'm not at a computer right now. I am hyper experienced with the Dgen campaign system. I will get back to you. And even if you started all over again, I will let you know what would have fixed it so you'll know in the future.

Hey mortoma - I *kinda* found a pseudo fix. I started a new campaign at same battle and edited the files to give me about where my kills/missions flown were, but the one ai pilot I grew attached to (ai with > 130 kills!) is gone and it says Ive only completed the 2 missions Ive played today (I like the ego booster of seeing the 60+ there)

but if you know what is wrong, that would be great, as I still have the folder with all the files from my old campaign.

In the 'USERS' folder there are subfolders with all the pilots names. In each of those are files called "campaign.ini". These contain encrypted info on each pilot and you messed something up whereby the info no longer matches the info in the Missions/DE folder. I am now thinking this is unrecoverable. Dgen is very sensitive to the slightest thing that happens. It's also a little buggy in general.

In your new campaign if you go back to the DE folder and then the folder for that pilot you can find that same AI pilot ( or another if he's not in the latest campaign ) and edit the squadron.dat file and give him all his kills back. You can give all your squad mates as many kills as you like up to 1000. It won't recognize any more than that.
