Hi all, i have a problem that i hope somebody can help me with.

I have played IL2 1946 for a long time online through HL.

My disc became too scratched however so i could no longer use it.

I decided to purchase and download a copy online.

It installed fine and plays fine,.......but...no matter what server i join, i cannot see the briefing screen?????

It happens on all servers and is a little frustrating, in the blue window where the brief should be it's blank, exept for about a 1 inch strip of grey on the top, right side and bottom edges, the grey is different shades separated into 4 different boxes??.

I really hope someone can help me with this issue.

I have tried clicking on the brief and selecting aircraft and going back etc but still nothing.

Here is a screenshot of what i see (should have done that in the first place)

Are you using mods?

Yes i am using the unified installer 1.1

But i have already un-installed the mods and tried but it fails to solve the issue.

I have also un-installed the game and re-installed but still nothing helps??

Just to add, i have also noticed that i have been flying on a server that allows skins downloads and seen others complimenting people on their custom skins....but no matter how long i am in the game i never see them.....i dont have any in my net cache, if i remember correctly when i used to play the custom skins that i saw online were saved in the internet cache?? and mine is empty.

Also i have noticed that when anybody types in server commands for timeleft etc.. i see them type the command but i do not see the server reply??... could this all be connected do you think???

So it's just online you have this problem? You can see the briefs for the included single missions?

One would think so...

Post the content of your conf.ini file in here.
Possibly, something's not correctly set regarding caching of online files to your harddisk...

Yes when i play offline missions i see the brief ok.

I will post the details of the conf.ini file a little later.

Just curious. Have you been on any 4.08 servers that do not allow mods? I'd be interested to know if you have the same problem in one of those servers.

No i have not tried any servers that do not allow mods....... maybe i will try later.

Well i have just joined the spit's V 109's and still no briefing.

So you have the English version?

- Joined a DF server via HL (4.08m, no mods)
- Brief is visible, texts are there.
- Renamed my <game folder>\Missions\Net\cache folder to cache-old.
- Joined the same DF server via HL.
- Briefing screen is empty. (Though I do not see the same greyish bars top/right/bottom)

So, please check if your '(...)\missions\net\cache' folder is present.
If it's not, create it.

yep this is probably the problem. This happened to a friend a few weeks ago, no Cache folder in Net Missions = no briefing. Just make a folder called Cache.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BRIEFINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
