Hi Ladies and Gentlemen
I have a problem with visability( I think that has to do with my card): I can see objekts on the Ground only on very close distance( Trains , Runways in Winter,). For example trains I can only see at a distance of 2km!( First one part appears then the other, when I`m at 500m distance I can see the whole train)!!! Detecting planes( in air) is no problem! My card:Geforce FX 5600. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?Will new driver help? Would make me very happy if someone could help. |

I presume you fly with OPENGL settings.. Test the following: go to the IL2FB directory and make a backup copy of your conf.ini file. Then do the following experiment: Open your conf.ini file go all the way down to the [Render_OpenGL] area. Leave the [Render_OpenGL] text unchanged and delete everything below until the next [xxxx] label. close and save the conf.ini Now run the il2setup.exe file and select Driver: Provider: OpenGL Full Screen 1024x768 32Bit Video: NVIDEA GeForce 5200..5900 - 1x Shaders Press OK This will re-write the [Render_OpenGL] area of your conf.ini. Now play the game and I hope this will solve your problem. Good luck ! ~S~ PS. After much weeping, reading and gnashing of teeth I got my 7950 to run ok... but I cant help but think it could be better... plus I still get the microstutters.. GOZR what are your settings.. I didnt see them posted in here.. I may have missed it though... I see your frames looked so good I had to get a towel..

I sure hope you are all using the .dlls from this thread: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=2749 seems to make lots of improvements for ati and nvidia. They also work for 4.08, not just 4.09.

I am using the driver 6.14.11.6921.. I finally got my issues worked out for the most part... I still lock up occasionally when the sim loads.. still have to figure that one out... but I have made progress.. I can now run the sim smooth as silk98% of the time, and I average 50-70 fps over the water in a pacific map with 32 planes going. I don't mean to derail this thread, but I think it's kind of funny that almost 2 and 1/2 years since I started this thread, it is still active. I just did another upgrade this past December, so I'm no longer running the hardware I stated in the initial post. The only reason I mention that is the fact that this thread has lasted as long as the shelf-life of your average computer, haha.
Just a little tidbit I figured I'd add, but Il-2 1946 runs great on Vista (DX10) with an Nvidia 8800 GT Keep those tips and tweaks coming guys, even though I haven't posted on this thread in forever, I still come here to check out the various tweaks and have applied a few of them to my system. It runs great on XP here as well, also with an 8800GT. I switched to this card from an ATI 9800XT recently and boy is it good. I keep seeing this thread and thinking 'What Nividia Frustration, there's none here!' |

Dell XPS 420
2 GB Ram Quad 2.4 MHz CPU 500 Gb Raid nVida 8800GT 512Mb 24" WS LCD (1920x1200) Vista Home Premium Saitek X52 Pro & Pedals IR Tracker Ultra First problem was disappearing Control Panel, suspected cause was a clash between Vista and 8800 drivers. That was fixed with a MS patch. Second was difficulty in installing game (1946). Fixed by marking a.exe on disk as XP Sp2 compatible. Ditto for all .exe's once installed. Other than that, I have had no problems running at 1600x1200x32 in perfect mode. As I only have had the new machine a few months I have not played with things like perfect water. |

I get problems with my new 8800GT. Frames are generally allot lower than with my old X1900XTX which could run IL2 @ 1920x1200, FSAAx8, AFx16, perfect mode etc. Water seems to make a massive hit, currently its set to water=3. Forest is 2. I've reduced FSAA down to 4 and AF to application controlled and there isn't much peformance gain. Quite annoying!

Just a heads up that there are newer drivers 174.74 available at guru3d which are good - I use them with march .dlls on a 512mb 8600 and like the combination - still slight shimmering on horizon with water/land interface but otherwise very good.

Forgive me for not reading this humungous thread all the way through but I don't think my question is answered before.
My rig:- ASUS A8N32SLi AMD 64 x 2 3800+ 2 Gb Corsair XLPT3200 2-2-2-5 memory 2 x XFX7800GT 2 x 160Gb HDD in Raid config Jeantech STORM 700W PSU Win XP DirectX9c Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen TrackIR4 1680 x 1050. AAx4, AFx16, Multisampling on, Vert Synch on with Triple buffering on. I am running in Split Frame Rendering and getting a nice 30 - 60 FPS (vert = 60Hz) but I have an annoying random horizontal flickering at the split-frame join on my screen.
