I just got a new computer 2 weeks ago:

AMD Athlon64 x2, 4400+
2 GB RAM
256MB 7800GT (using 81.95 drivers)
WinXP Pro
nForce sound

I've installed the new game dll's posted in the forum. However, all is not well. I get a BSOD in about 30 to 60 minutes when flying on line with Team Speak going. The offending file is nvmcp.sys which is a audio codec. I've put that file name into Google and find that the Sim City folks have that problem too. They believe it is an nForce issue (running the 10/26/05 drivers for nForce).
This is somewhat frustrating as while it works I get no studders (previously on my NV 5700 ultra, I'd get freezes as I closed on an opponent). Still get the "plane selection" pauses if the user high ping, but in general the landscape is very nice even at "just" the excellent mode.
I'd really like to sort out this problem. FYI, if you Google nvmcp.sys and then look at the "Tong Family Blog" you see what is going on with that sime and this problem.

AMD 4000+
1 gig standard ram
6800 Ultra

I am running latest drivers and New DLL's.

Rns better than before and i am now playing on water = 3.

New invidia drivers by themselves gave little stutter. New drivers + new DLL gives...

Woooaaa Mumma !!

AMD Dual Core Fix

ARRRRRRG Stutters with new computer!

Stutters on-line and off-line!

Google found the above linked page and this google directed me here too.

Breaking my vow to not post here anymore - to whom it may concern:

Dual Core = Stutters for my system.

Dual Core AMD - 7800 GT nvidia SLI

New display drivers fix stutters for a short time. Stutters return as if...power or memory?

Check the link above...I tried fix #1 (manually edit boot.ini) only.

My experience so far... stutter gone!

FPS drop.

The stutter was rythmic and constant soon after a display driver re-install (fixed for a very short time).

The rythmic and constant stutter seems to be fixed by the AMD (Dual Core) driver fix (manually editing the boot.ini file).

More testing required.

Without wading through 15 pages of postings, could somebody please tell me if Oleg or Nvidia has accepted responsibility for this bug (missing textures in Perfect Mode) and released a fix yet?

This has been a total game stopper for me. Frown

I know I probably missed it somewhere....Does anyone have performance settings they recomend for a Nvidia 6800 GT or Ultra?

Sniper I have a 6800GT and have set it as follows:

Driver: 81.95
Beta DLLs installed - download link : http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/8891044193

In the driver settings:

Resolution: 1280 x 960
Performance Settings slider to "Quality"
Anti-Aliasing to 2Q
Anisotropic Filtering to none
All other settings are left at the default which the driver selects once you pick the "Quality" setting above

In the IL2 configuration utility:

Video GF6 default settings
Sound settings: 22KHz, 16 channels, balanced

In config.ini

Water = 2
Forest =3
Effects =1

In game settings:
perfect

I have also changed the PCI latency of the card to 64 down from 248 default using this tool
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/49310655/m/8371030693

The card has aftermarket cooling (NVsilencer 5) and is overclocked to 385 core and 1070 memory.

Im getting very very nice image quality and smooth frame rates.

There probably is some room for improvement by
changing the GF6 default settings, but I have not tried it as I am still working on optimising the rig. Such changes will come later.

Hope this helps

I recently installed the Z-Tweaked v82.12 Nvidia driver; I usually stay clear of tweaked drivers but there were so many positive comments on Guru3D's forum that I took the plunge (I was about to install the normal 82.12 anyway).

This driver is apparently tweaked for performance and FB/PF had less micro-stutters, I also thought the realistic clouds looked better than previous drivers. Image quality is excellent considering these drivers were tweaked for performance.

The benefits to other games were far more dramatic, especially FEAR, which in heavy firefights lost all stuttering and micro-pauses and I felt it was totally transformed. BF2 also lost some stuttering. Guild Wars had a graphical anomally with 'patchwork' landscape textures and this disappeared after installing the new driver. GT Legends has also never run smoother.

All in all this is definitely the only Nvidia driver I've tried in the last year or so (and that's a lot, with the rate beta and WHQL drivers appear) that I've actually thought 'Wow! that's a significant improvement' (especially on FEAR).

Highly Recommended. Get the Z-Tweaked v82.12 driver and /or read the forum on the driver at www.guru3d.com. Every game I've tried seems to benefit from this driver, so far there's been no drawbacks. Smile Smile Smile

Tried the 82.12s. Didn't see much improvement. They are tweaked for speed not for quality. And FS9 is having canipshun fits with em. All other games run fine. Gonna back out to my old drivers for now. They work great.

So how come ya changed them WV?

Well, cause I'm a bonefide computer geek who just has to try to tweak every friggin system I come across Hammer

I need some help. I seem to be having the same stuttering and slow frame rate problems as others have and need some help. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 and have just updated my drivers, and I'm still experiencing the stuttering and slow frame rate. I wasn't having this problem until recently (Last two weeks). And any help?

Go to your driver options and enable triple buffering! You will get a nice increase! Wink

Those of you AMD dualcore users that get stutters, may want to try a possible fix in my post here:

hey TJ,
control panel -> display -> settings tab -> advanced -> geforce tab -> performance & quality settings -> change basic settings to advanced settings -> scroll down and turn triple buffering on.

straight from nvidia web site:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/pg_20010527107687.html
Triple Buffering
A step beyond double buffering that uses an additional back buffer to process the next image, resulting in smoother animation. With triple buffering, the GPU can start rendering a third frame while the first frame is being displayed and the second frame is waiting to be displayed. Triple buffering helps to insure that the GPU is never idle because it is waiting for rendered frames to be sent to the monitor.

I have developed a problem with the water since I reformated and had to reinstall IL2. I have a BFG 6800GT OC and usually run water at 1 on perfect settings, since the reinstall, no matter what # water is on the water looks flat. Any ideas?
