I just figured I'd make a thread to see if anyone had found any fixes to this issue. I recently dumped $2500 into a brand new computer system, with one of my highlights being a GeForce 7800GTX OC. I knew this card would allow me to run water=3 with minimal frame rate drops.

So, just having configured my new system today, I installed FB+AEP+PF together, tested it and of course was amazed. I patched it up to 4.01m and then suddenly found several graphical errors occuring. I know for a fact I have the latest drivers for all my systems, and was greatly disappointed to read that people are suggesting I downgrade in order to be able to play PF minus the graphical errors. I tried reinstalling but to no avail. I just don't think that's fair, if I downgrade (I tested this afternoon) I can't play any of my other latest games with out problems that the 77 series drivers fixed.

I really am hoping there is a patch to fix this soon as I don't want to have to remove my 9600 from my old comp to be able to play this game. I am making this thread here in hopes to see if anyone has any fixes other than the aforementioned one. And for the record, I love my 7800 despite the problems I've had....plus as promised, here are my new system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 4000 (2.4 ghz)
2 Gigs of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7800GTX OC (not running SLi...yet)
2 160 gig hard drives in SATA RAID config
17" Samsung LCD Flatpanel monitor (8ms response time)
Logitech Wireless Keyboard a& Mouse
I'm using the JNCS integrated sound card config, can't get the specs, but it's better than your default onboard.

#1 post this in comunity help.
#2 be sure to discribe the problems in as much detail as you can
#3 be sure to post a complete DXdiag.

remember the lates drivers are not always the best drivers. that goes for more than GPU's.
also be sure to check temps both cpu, mobo and card. your card should have built in heat monitor. if you have a asus MOBO you should install asus tool wich should have come on a cd with you mobo if not try motherbordmonitor. also check and be suree you psu is doig what it should.

Go to simhq.com il2 forums and look for posts by ming..he is the nvidia/il2 expert. Apparently from what I remember to avoid the texture problems you must run in excellent mode, not perfect. But, as i said, check the forums there..ton of info about this subject.

I recently upgraded from an ATI R9700Pro to an Elsa GeForce 6800GT, using Forceware v77.77 on a fresh install of WinXP. I have graphic corruptions too but only with OpenGL. When I use DirectX, everything's peachy!

Don't use 77 series drivers if you want to run Il-2FB in perfect, it just doesn't work right now.

BTW, you can run BF2 allright with 69 or 72 series drivers, as long as you turn dynamic shadows off (also gives you a big boost in FPS).

I'm using the tweaked 75 series drivers (by X-tremeG?) on my 7800GTX with no graphical corruptions. I probably won't upgrade, if 77 series are having issues.

One more thing to look at though - did you use Driver Cleaner Pro before you installed your current drivers? Quite often 'graphical corruptions' are caused by fragments of old drivers that are left behind on a system when you simply install a new set of drivers over another. You might be getting the old corruptions that happened with the 66.93 NVidia drivers, because it wasn't completely removed when you upgraded to 77.xx

Just a possibility

Google Search 'Driver Cleaner Pro' - it's a free application. Works wonders. Follow the instructions in the readme to use it.

Are the graphical glitches you guys are talking about missing parts of aircraft and objects?

If so, I get the same problem with my 6800GT with the 77. series Drivers. Pieces of aircraft go invisible, but flicker back on if you put your navigation lights on for example.

Strange thing is this only began to happen when I upgraded to patch 4.01. I could use previous versions of the game with this same driver perfectly fine.

I'm using EVGA's GF6800 Ultra PCIe card and official 71.89 drivers, no problems. I have heard that later drivers do cause problems and not just with Pacific Fighters, so I am staying with the 71.89 for now. From what I have heard, the later drivers are aimed at SLI rigs, unfortunately as NVIDIA irons out the SLI problems more single card issues have appeared.

I too am hoping that this will be corrected. Iuse te 67 series drivers and since I only run FB... the rest of my computer stuff is apps... it isnt a problem. It is a drag though. The missing panels on the B-17s and P-47s... and Spits.... and you are right it didnt start till 4.01. I am moving this to the tech forum.

Good luck getting an AGP card in your PCI-Express slot Wink

Seriously now, this is a widely reported issue. Us 7800 owners can only run in excellent as previous drivers that do not introduce this do not support our cards.

Thanks for the heads up on 1C being aware Hunter, that should help focus nVidia on the issue.

Lol, good catch on the PCI/AGP thing...yeah, it's only the "inviso panels" errors, like the G4M looks like it should be a Huey with the door gunners being out in the open, haha. I've found the force shaders 1x fix and am currently using that, aside from that nothing else.

One question though, can you get water=3 running under Direct X? I'm thinking not. Oh yeah, and sorry for picking the wrong forum to post it, kind of slipped my mind about sticking it here instead of a general board Smile.

Can you now confirm you are using 77.xx drivers, or are you on 71.89?

So now we have come to the conclusion that the glitches are missing parts and textures on models. For me, these parts re-appear if you turn on the Navigation lights. They reappear and dissapear at different conditions.

Is this Really a driver problem regarding the 77 series?

I'm skeptic about that because it never happened UNTIL the 4.01 patch. The patch didnt impliment any new tweaks or features to the graphic engine itself.

One of the points of having such a high end video card is to play With perfect settings, water at 3, ect ect. Would be a shame to turn them down just for this bug.
