I just purchased a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X fighterstick (TMX) and the throttle apparently is not working. I looked for help on the Thrustmaster FAQ without success and a Google search was similarly fruitless. The manual is rudimentary and is useless for troubleshooting; its FAQ discusses only three simple situations and nothing on throttle function. I sent a query via email to Thrustmaster, but likely I will not receive a response until next week and I am admittedly anxious to play IL-2 1946 this weekend.

Hence, I wanted to ask if any IL-2 players had any general ideas on troubleshooting throttle problems. My TMX is composed of a separate throttle and joystick connected by wire and the two parts are joined together physically to create one unit. The throttle has a rocker switch on it, as well as some function buttons. After installation, the joystick works normally in all three axes, as well as the gunfire buttons. However, the throttle has no effect on engine power. Interestingly, the rocker button does decrease and increase engine power, but it has to be held in place; once released, the engine power defaults to 55%. According to the manual, the rocker button is intended to control the rudder and not the throttle. Lights on the throttle "light up" normally and all connections seem to be in place. The USB connection is between the PC and the joystick unit; the wire connecting the throttle and joystick units seems to be intact. After installation, I received notification that installation was effective and all drivers are up to date. I also followed the instructions to reset the buttons to factory pre-set mapping, including throttle.

While awaiting response from Thrustmaster technical support, I wanted to ask if any tech-savvy players could point me in one or more general direction to investigate the throttle problem. I know that, unless you own or have owned this specific fighterstick, you likely will not be able to offer advice specific to the TMX.

Thank you for reading and any suggestions.

Does it work in Windows' Control Panel, Game Controllers?

It looks like there's nothing really wrong with the stick, it's probably the in-game assignment.

In game, goto Controls, scroll all the way down to the HOTAS section, click your mouse on the right part of the line 'Power', then move the throttle.

FoolTrottel-

Thanks for your accurate advice, using it, my throttle now works perfectly! To answer your earlier question, the controller had worked in the Windows Control Panel, Game Controllers section; I had tested all axes and stick and button functions in it and even re-calibrated the axes twice. Obviously you were correct, my controller works normally, unlike me! Googly Razz

Obviously also, I have little experience with the controls section. I had previously just plugged in my joystick and played with the controls in default mode. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask a related question. To map the different function buttons on my joystick, do I do the same thing I did with the throttle--go to the desired function in control, click on the right side, and press the desired button?

Thanks much again!

Yes, that's how it works!
