New iMac (3.06Ghz Penryn, 1920x1200, 512Mb NVidia 8800GS, XP via Bootcamp).
Absolutely delighted that IL2:1946 runs so well, the first time I've had perfect mode running in widescreen and its smoooooth. Any other iMac users out there have any particular tweaks or hints for running this sim? I know there are couple of different driver sets out there for the new NVidia models but it seems pretty stable with the default installation. Now all I need to do is aquire a stick, pedals, and Track-IR! What version are you all playing online these days, 4.08 or 4.09 (beta or otherwise)? Happy days, Cheers, Spinner |

I really don't think you'll find many people here in the forums that use Macs. Great that it works so well for you!! But even if you can get it to run well on that Mac you could get it to run better on even a mid power PC. That's why I'm sticking with PCs.

Wasn't looking to get into a willy waving contest, I suppose I'm just curious if I am the only one out there. Have been on PCs for many, many years and this is something of a new experience!

I'm using a Macbook, 2ghz core duo, 2gb ram.
I found some of the performance sluggish until I increased the RAM, now it runs fine in high settings across the board. These days Macs & PCs with the same specs are quite similarly priced, I've seen Dells with the same specs cost more than my mac. Get tracker IR its the best perchase you will ever make and it will transform your game! I use it all the time its great being able to track you opponent when he is out of your direct field of view, for example in a turning fight, your able to look up through your canopy, apply a little faps and put him round into your sights lol and if he turns your instantly able to react!
When you get it running go into the tracker IR set up and add a little smoothing, it will transform your game! |

I'd advise you to check out FreeTrack or Cachya first, though. Many people find that quite sufficient, and it's free too.

I have used free programs using a webcam instead, but there no where as refined as TIR, plus with TIR you get six degree's of freedom. I know 6 DOF is not in il2, but it will be in SOW, and it is on FSX ans other games.

last time I tried cachya it didnt work well at all for some reason. It would just jerk to one side and stay there.

Spinner has been around for a while... I am sure he is well aware of TIR.. he may even have it already...
