Well dadgum, I received my copy of 1946 from Amazon today , and it appears it is NOT the US version that does not have the secure-rom, on the back of the dvd box it states in very small print that it has copy protection that may conflict with some dvd burners...
Now I am debating whether to even try installing on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit...

Update - guess I spoke too soon, it installed and I just ran it for the first time without issue. Going to install the 4.08m patch now... woohoo!

I am also getting the dreaded spinning disc syndrome on Vista 64 on IL-2 1946 (UK).

The solution would be greatly appreciated.

last Friday I went to get on my PC and play ..Aces High , Call of Duty WaW , SH4, Rise of Flight & my fav Il246 wouldn't do anything ..nada..nothing previously was downloaded to screw the games up so I have no idea what happened , IL246 this time is doing the same thing with me on Vista 64 , I have tried the various fixes but nothing worked , so if someone has an exe and a step by proven step that will make the game work ..I would greatly appreciate it .

Also when I try to alter the conf file to enable a widescreen ratio, Windows won't let me save it even though I have adninistrator rights. Is this usual?
