Urufu_Shinjiro,

Thanks a bunch for the nod in the direction of securom as the issue.
Rot in hell Securom.

Gents,
I'm having the some trouble with the spinning disc, title screen change resolution then nothing. I'd happily just buy 1946 if that was going to fix it , but given I'm in Australia that would probably just put me in the same position. I finally have a computer that can run with decent settings and I'm stumped . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Complain with Ubisoft customer service.
You need the no-DVD il2fb exe without SecuROM.
SecuROM is not compatible with any 64 bit OS.

The US retail exe would solve your problem.
It's up to Ubisoft to release it.

Sadly the response I got was duck shoved too Securom support, and unsuprisingly have had no response from there yet.
Ironic that anti piracy software only stops me from playing a legally purchased game.

Yes, should be just fine, be sure to follow the advice of turning off UAC and installing the game into a folder other than program files and you'll be fine. Be sure to use A.exe on the dvd to install.

Did you run A-tray or A.exe?

Do you have another pc to try the installation on? This game does not require registry keys to play so if you can go to a friends house and install it there then burn the game folder to a disk you can put that game folder on you hdd and play away.

As for securom, you have the US dvd?

If A-Ray scanner does not find SecuROM, then it is most likely the US Retail version. It's the only version without SecuROM AFAIK.

Running a.exe (root folder of the DVD) should install the game, although the US Retail version should do a normal auto-run when you insert the DVD.

I suppoer I could do that on a another computer. This is just the IL-2 Sturmovik CD-ROM from 2001. I got it in a pack with forgotten battles. A-Ray doesn't show up anything and when I DBL click autorun.exe nothing happens. Same result if I choose to run as admin.

So I too went to Vista64,, trying to run IL2 forgotten battles , american version ran a scan and found no secrom. Followed all the tips and advice here on the thread, but alas it only shows the intial load up screen disk spinning and then nothing. Can anybody help? I must be missing something? But would love to be able to run the game.

Thanks

So you do get the splash screen picture and then goes back to desktop? Have you run il2setup.exe and selected your hardware setting yet?

I assume you mean the application where you indicate driver,video,etc...
Yes I have set that up,, perhaps those settings are set incorrectly..? I have the driver listed as openGL. Is this what you refer as hardware setting?
I did notice that on task manager processes when I start IL2 it shows with an *32 behind file name?

This is not a securom issue, if it was securom you'd get a spinning disk icon where your pointer was and then nothing. Start a new thread, post a dxdiag (type dxdiag in the search box on the start menu, then save the txt report and post it the new thread) and post a copy of your conf.ini file. There's some other reason your game isn't working.
