HI guys, ive followed the guide, and got the spinning disk icon, my DVD drive spins up, but nothing happens, and Ive followed the guide to the letter, has anyone got anymore info, or am I going back to the land of xp sp2

I too am having this problem. I enabled the logging in conf.ini and get the following messages:

I'm not sure but it looks like we're not getting linked to the opengl library file to run the game?

any suggestions?

Hey guys I got it installed with the instuctions but It doesnt start I get cd icon spinning but no start what do i do! I need to shoot down some hellcats now!

Sorry bout not keepin the post up to date....been workin like a pack mule as of late.

I'm still runnin the same ingame settings with NVidia driver 7.15.11.6944. Vista SP1 downloaded and installed in under an hour. Those are the only changes since and it still runs great.

From what I've seen on the NVidia forums about the 175. series drivers is that they still have some bugs to work out....some times using an older video driver that you know works....guess nuff said....if'n it aint broke.

and also the Vista64.com website is a great reference stop

work and family have made it hard for the last 3-4 mths to be parked for a few hrs 'flyin and yakkin with the sqad'
got a couple/few more to go till things settle.

Good to see you Spear, I too have not been on the NORAD TS as much as I would like.

For those having the spinning disk and no launch the problem is Securom. There are ways to eliminate this problem but cannot be posted on this forum even though Ubi themselves realized the problem and shipped the US version of 1946 without Securom.

Fine...I do that. The example given shows IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Properties.

However... on my disk for Il2-Strumovik the A.exe file is labeled as only A.exe.

The instruction continue....open properties of A.exe and under Attributes click on ADVANCED...

But there is no ADVANCED tab on my A.exe


I bought my Il2-1946 directly from UBISOFT not all that long ago. Why would my version be so different from the one illustrated in the thread?

Is there any other thread or place to consult about getting IL2-1946 to run on Vista Ulitmate edition?

This really sucks...big time...now that I have a machine powerfull enough to run the game properly it won't run on the machine because of the OS.

I'm not sure why you're not getting the same menues but I do know that you can skip that step, just run a.exe as admin (rightclick on a.exe and choose run as admin).

Unfortunately no. You can contact securom themselves and seek a solution but most of the time they are not real helpful. There are methods to circumvent the securom but we are not allowed to discuss this on these boards.

What about a dual boot configuration? I'm considering this mostly because my old Saitek X36 programming software doesn't work with Vista. A fine guide to dual boot set-up can be found here:

When I first got vista I set up a second partition and was dualbooting with xp. I can't say as I had much expirience though as I booted into xp maybe two more times after I got vista and never looked back.

I have installed the game using the hints here in this thread, but I can't get it to run.

The spinning disk icon shows and I hear my disk drive crank up for a split second and then...nothing.

What gives? Anyone know what is going on?
