Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I started a thread asking for help with unwanted reboots of my computer. Despite all the good advice I received, I was unable to fix the problem and ended up getting a new computer. Figuring I was in the clear, imagine my disappointment when the new system began to crash while playing IL2 Then I experienced one of those "...naw, it couldn't possibly be that..." moments. Normally I have my four controllers (CH Pro pedals and throttle, Nostromo N52 Speedpad and Saitek EVO Cyborg), plugged into a single USB hub. Playing IL2, my computer would usually crash while in combat, often at the moment I fired the guns. I decided to try connecting each controller to a different USB socket on my computer and lo and behold, the system crashes have stopped. I keep thinking that the solution can't possibly be something so simple but what the hey, as long as it works. I'm keeping my fingers crossed just the same. Good hunting, Sillius_Sodus |

I do that anyway.. at least for my pedals, X-45 & MSFFB2.. My headphones, TIR, mouse & keyboard are all on a hub.

I think if you told us that right from the start there would have been people who could have told you that also. Your using all off those devices at the same time on a single port on your system wich is really gonna stress its powersuply and will give posible conflicts with all the difrent devices being used at once. I wouldnt hook up more than 2 devices (that you use at the same time) to a single port on your system. AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, Foxconn nForce 590 SLI, 4x OCZ 2048MB EPP DDR2-800, 2x Club3D GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Be-Quiet 700 Watt Straight Power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit |

Yeah, it was an unpowered hub as well. It just never occurred to me to troubleshoot that part of my system. It's ok though, I was due for a new desktop computer anyway.
Thanks again for all the help. Good hunting, Sillius_Sodus |

In general a single USB 2.0 port should not be asked to provide more than 0.5 A of current. (that'a a total of about 2.5 Watt power). Check if the total power of your devices stays below that. If not, you need to use multiple ports or a powered USB hub (and not connect to one port on that hub either).
On the bottom of my Saitek Cyborg evo it says max 450 mW - so it is a good bet you were over the limit. In general an unpowered hub can not provide more than 100 mA per port to downstream devices. That is why these hubs arte limited to 4 ports. 4x 100 mA for the ports +1x 100 mA for the hub itself totalling 500 mA to be provided by the computer port. |
