I have just started a dedicated Pacific Fighters server and everything seems to be going well with the exception of my console screen. It works for awhile and then freaks out by continuously rolling the data down the screen. This doesn't affect the game, I just can't use the console - the server has to be restarted and then it works fine for awhile. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thanks! Hogan

He seems to be getting no help in the Help forum alone so I thought I would create a shortcut over here so that any knowledgeable dedicated server m8s that may read it can maybe help this m8 with his issue.

Hallo Hogan,

Why don't you to go to http://www.gennadich.com/allprojects/
and download "IL2 Server Commander" ?

Just download the version IL2 Server Commander v.2.02

Do NOT install MySQL support, do not install the IL2SC Stat module, these are quite advanced things and for the time being you only need to learn to control your dedicated server.

Regarding Setup & config

Setup:

unpack il2sc into a SEPARATE directory than the dedicated server directory
( \il2sc\ by default);
we recommend you to rename il2server_new.exe to il2server.exe

start il2sc.exe.
In the il2sc config:
put settings;
- show way to dedicated server dedicated server and il2server.exe file;
- set ip and console adress of dedicated server.
-> Even if il2sc and il2fbserver are on the same PC, you still need to put in the internal IP address of that PC (example: 192.168.178.1) You should NOT use an address like 127.0.0.1
-> in the confs.ini of the dedicated server you should have under [Console] the command IP=20000 without a ; in front. The 20000 is the Port number you need to put in the il2sc settings.

------------------------------------------
If you use Hyperlobby to run the dedicated server.

In that case you have to do the following steps:
1. Start Hyperlobby
2. Start Hyperlobby game (Dedicated server starts)
3. Load the IL2SC program
4. Press the start/stop button to start il2sc
At the question "Exec il2server?" press NO (<important!!!!)

Hope it helps,

~S~

Ok, I was able to get it loaded, however it is not loading maps. I keep getting the following error message: "Error mission!/net/[87]". Also, there are no maps in the map list - is there anywhere to place the maps? Thanks for your help! Hogan

I have installed the "il2sc" that was previously suggested. The maps are working and have control. However, I still have the same problem that was originally posted. Are there any other suggestions? Does anyone have a confc.ini files from a working server that I could look at to check whether I have a error. Thank you! Hogan

Well, I don't use IL2SC, I use FBDaemon, so I can't help with that, but it seems you should get your server running properly first before introducing a whole new set of potential issues relating to a daemon or controller of any sort.

I'm also not sure what differences there are, if any, between the PF dedicated server and the FB+AEP+PF 4.08 dedicated server that I'm running. I would assume that they are basically the same, except some filenames might be different.

I have only ever started my server using il2server.exe, which gets the server running in a command window. I have not used the il2sconsole.exe, nor the GS_il2ServerLauncher.exe. I would presume that the PF server is started by a file called pfserver.exe, or something similar?

You should also have to edit another file, called server.cmd to specify, among other things, the initial mission file you want the server to load when it starts. Server.cmd also runs gc.cmd (a java garbage collection routine) and can also be used to load a difficulty file at startup.

The only other file I use to configure the server is confs.ini and it contains this info:

[NET]
speed=8000
serverChannels=16
localPort=21000
SkinDownload=0
difficulty=1217791
serverName=
serverDescription=
checkServerTimeSpeed=1
checkClientTimeSpeed=1
localHost=
socksHost=

[chat]
autoLogDetail=3

[MaxLag]
farMaxLagTime=10.0
nearMaxLagTime=2.0
cheaterWarningDelay=10.0
cheaterWarningNum=3

[Console]
IP=2000
IPS=
LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=logs.lst
HISTORY=128
HISTORYCMD=128
LOGKEEP=1

You will, at least, need to put in an IP address after localHost= so that the server will start up with at least one valid socket to accept connections on. Same for IPS= if you are going to run a daemon or server controller.

Mission files for the dedicated server are placed in folders contained in the missions/net/dogfight folder. There should be some folders there with some missions in them that came with the default server install, and server.cmd should have pointed to one of them by default....maybe.

Hi all,

I downloaded Server Commander and am having a basic problem. I simply cannot locate il2server_new.exe. The help section says to rename this to il2server.exe so any suggestions as to where this is? I've looked in my IL2 1946 folder and cannot find it anywhere.

Thx in advance

Hi Goolarius,
Firstly have you installed the dedictated server software? The reason I ask is that you say you cannot find the files in your 1946 folder which is the "game" folder as opposed to the dedicated server folder.

IL2SC is software that works with the dedicated server software - if you haven't got the dedicated server downloaded head over to Mission4Today site and download from there.
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&get=2417

There are 7 parts to this download totaling about 1.3GB - hope you're not on dialup :-)

If you have installed the dedicated server stuff then it is in the dedicated server root folder where you'll find the files il2server.exe and il2server_new.exe.
The existing il2server.exe should be renamed to il2fb.exe (so the server can connect to hyperlobby) and rename the il2server_new.exe to il2server.exe (so IL2SC can connect to the server).

Hope this helps

Cheers

Goanna

Good one, sure beats my 1500/256 setup - lol. Let us know how you get on and if you've got any questions fire away.

Cheers
