*S* All,
The 3rd Bombardment Group was an actual World War II Bomber Group that was stationed at Chaters Towers in Queensland, Austrailia. In fact, skip bombing and strafing of the Japanese Fleet was perfected by the 3rd BG.

The Virtual 3rd BG, practices all sorts of bombing activity. From Level Bombing in the Heavy birds, like the venerable B-17, to glide and skip bombing with the A-24 (SBD in game) and the A-20.

We engage in NIGHTLY Scorched Earth Online War senarios, weekly training sessions, as well as weekly Mission Nights in a Co-Op environment. Package all that up with a nice website to keep you in the loop of what is happening with the 3rd BG and I doubt you could ask for more.

So, if you are interested in joining the 3rd BG - Virtual, check us out at: www.3rdbg-virtual.com

After that come back here and make a post, so I know who just signed up!

Thanks,
DC
3rd Bombardment Group
Unit Commander.

3rd BG is still looking for dedicated Bomber Pilots.

We are a dedicated Bomber Unit, which specializes in Skip, Level, Glide, and Dive bombing techinques.

We hold Monthly Meetings, to give everyone a voice in what we do. We hold WEEKLY training sessions, which is open to anyone looking to improve their own bombing techinques. Missions are nearly DAILY.

We are heavily involved in Ground Zero - SEOW, a community based SEOW system. Are one of the primary Bomber Units for the RAF74's Big Week.

Chances are great you will see us in a server that utilizes the Heavy birds, such as BoB_1940_byLW10, Okinawa_1945, Winds of War, and several others.

So, look for the 3rd_BG- Tag and ask them how to become a member.

Also, we train pilots from the ground up in many cases. So, we are open to all pilots, new and seasoned.

Check us out at, www.3rdbg-virtual.com

Thanks,
DC

~S~

Gentlemen, first of all, hello!

I'm Col. Douglas P. King, Commanding Officer of the Hell's Devils Virtual outfit.

Before reaching the point, I want to make a little historical recall.

As surely you know, in 1944 the 5th and 13th Army Air Forces were merged together in

the Far East Air Force (FEAF). The Command of the FEAF was given to General George C.

Kenney. Later the 7th Army Air Force joined the FEAF, too.

My virtual unit, the Hell's Devils, is inspired to the historical "special" and not

officially numbered small unit that was called the 5th AF (later FEAF) HQ Flight.

Perhaps the most illustrious member of this selected group of men was the USAAF top

scoring ace, Richard Ira Bong.
This unit was practically a "free lance" one, and had to report to General Kenney

only.

As your virtual outfit is inspired by the historical one of the same name and was

included in the historical 5th AF/FEAF, may I suggest you gentlemen to join the

virtual 5th AF/FEAF that is about to be created?
All virtual squadrons or groups that are inspired by historical units that were part

of the real 5th AF/FEAF will be invited to be part of the virtual one.

It is absolutely granted the independence of every virtual squadron/Group that will

adhere to this project. A dedicated Community Forum will be created, to provide all

groups/squadrons a place to share experiences and to plan eventual joint operations.

The 5th AF/FEAF General HQ will be a convenient place where the Commanding Officers

of every group or Squadron will discuss and plan an eventual common strategy and so

on, all in a relaxed, democratic and gentlemanly way.

The final goal is to give birth to a strong and committed Community where all the

involved will be able to find and give support to each other, thus achieving a high

standard of proficiency and mature fun.

For more please feel free to contact me at:

col._douglas_king@hotmail.com (it works for both Email and MSN)

or by paging me in HyperLobby, where I'm flying as <HD>King

Thank you.

Col. Douglas P. King
"Hell's Devils"
Commanding Officer

Salute fellow buff drivers --

As rare as bomber groups are, we all seemed to be pulling in different directions. Why don't we all get together and attempt to create a unified group with one server, each squadron with its own port or two etc.

I am Commander of Air Group 8 Doolittle Raiders which is mostly a dedicated Heavy Bomber and Navy Strike Group. We do have a small contingent of Fighter escorts pilots as well. We are always looking for recruits and opposition fliers on our server. We rarely fly in Hyperlobby as we are more mission oriented. We are mostly into historical missions and realism and have our own training program in addition to Joint Ops Training graduates.

I am a Torpecker myself [VT8 TBD, TBF, SBD] but also love to fly the B-25 and B-17s with our VB squadron. It is worth a discussion at least.

Some exciting new developments in the 3rd BG!

We have started a new campaign on the Ground Zero SEOW website, which will focus on the English Channel map and Level Bombing from 20,000 to 30,000 ft.

Dedicated Escorts are available as well.

Check out the Ground Zero SEOW at www.groundzeroseow.com.

Thanks,
DC
