I can only speak for myself, but JG1 has been a fantastic experience for me. I joined the unit in 2000, shortly after the original Il-2 was released. When I filled out the application little did I know that I would be joining an incredibly well organized and historically knowlegeable group of people. The training course which I had to go through to earn my wings (and my commission) was held by real life retired combat pilots. The extent of their experience has been an immesurable help in later years. Once out of flight school, I was assigned to a Staffel, where I found some of the best combat leaders I have ever flown with. The rest of the guys were a very realistic mix of old hands and rookies with freshly pressed virtual uniforms.

Once in II./JG1 I realized that I gained access to a multitude of virtual wars, which were by invitation only. Such wars included Clash of Titans, Forgotten Skies and Scorched Earth. They were designed with increadibe attention to historical detail and they actually gave me a different understanding of certain conflicts such as the challenges which Luftwaffe pilots faced during Normandy, or the support of von Manstein's 11th Army in the Crimea.

And finally, there are the guys. I never met a friendlier group of people. One can always count on II./JG1 for a helping hand whether it is for advice on fighting a Spitfire at 8000m ASL, or configuring your router, or testing climb rate of P-40 against Bf-109F-2. II./JG1 is such a big unit that no matter what the question is, somebody will always be able to help.

Hello,

Are you guys still recruiting? You seem like the kind of squad I have been looking for and I'd like to join if that is still possible. Do you fly exclusively on HyperLobby or in private tourneys also?
How should I go about contacting you?

Respectfully,

James

~S!~ James,

Hope you make your way over to our application site. The unit is in a great place right now. For whatever reason we are receiving a ton of applications and we will shortly start the training of a new class. Maybe you can get a spot.

If you have any questions, our Major (II./JG1_Klaiber) is the man to ask.

Hope to see you with us, James.

Happy holidays.

~S!~

Hi KomokToo,

Currently, we're between webhosts, so the email system attached to our website doesn't work right. So if you got an email error, it probably went through.

Just in case, would you mind PMing me your application information on our forums? That way, I can get back to you ASAP.

Thanks!

S! Wubke,

Basically, Kadetten will go through Class A (which covers the very basics of online flying), and then graduate on to Class B (which focuses on taking what is taught in Class A and moving it towards some level of combat-effectiveness and teamwork).

Currently, it's about a month long process for "green" recruits - however, experienced pilots who already know their way around the game can be "fast tracked" through in a matter of days.

If you'd like more specifics, here is a link to what our Training Program covered circa 2006:

http://oesau.jg1...p?pg=training_policy

Of course, things have been streamlined since then to allow for more fun and more Gruppe interaction. But it's an excellent example of topics. Smile

S! All,

II./JG1 "Oesau" is currently recruiting!

II./JG1 is a seriously minded North American based squadron with a long and distinguished history. JG1 was founded in March 1992 flying Red Baron Online. This year, we are celebrating 17 years on the internet. And during those 17 years, we've prided ourselves on a solid foundation of accomplishment and tradition, emphasizing training, tactics and teamwork.

Currently, II./JG1 is comprised of one GruppenStab (Command Flight), one JaboStaffel (Fighter-Bomber Squadron) and two Jagdstaffeln (Fighter Squadrons).

As a result, we are looking for pilots of all skill levels who are interested in flying Luftwaffe aircraft in either an air-to-air or ground attack role.

II./JG1 is also the home of II./JG1_Lowengrin, the designer and creative force behind the Dynamic Campaign Generator: http://www.lowengrin.com

If you are interested in applying, please take the time to visit our main website to see what our unit has to offer: http://www.jg1.org

The direct link to our enlistment information can be found here: http://oesau.jg1.org/recruiting.php

Hope to hear from you soon.
