I would like to draw to your attention a new inter-squad competitive league due to run soon where the 334th Eagle Squadron are looking for like-minded squadrons to sign up to and join us. 334th, as you may know, are one of the larger and longer running IL2 Squadrons and we believe in fair and fun play which we promote on our popular Hyperlobby server, 334th-Dedicated. With the recent lack of competition within the community we have been (and still are) working on a new competitive format, and the United Squadrons League has been born.

The United Squadrons League is an IL2 Squad War League. We say war league and not dogfighting league because each week registered squads will face different challenges, whether it's bombing missions, jabo, escorting or dogfighting on both dogfight and mission objective based maps. The battles will take place at different timelines and in different theaters in order to accomodate the worldly variety that this great sim has offered us.

This league has been built on the premise of Squad unity and respect for each other. In order to keep with this idea every squad that is registered will have a Liason Officer whom will be actively involved in and have equal input into how the league is effectively run. This group will be instrumental in creating rules, map ideas and if need be serve as a neutral arbitrator in disagreements. In order for this league to be successful we will need the cooperation from all the participants, let us be clear that this is not a 334th League, we do not own it, but we offer it to your squad and wish to share it's development thoroughly. The IL2 family of pilots are the most dedicated in the War Sim community and that dedication needs to be given a home. We are United Squads. Friendship, Respect, Honor & Comradery are our cornerstones.

Presently we have over 10 squadrons sign up to compete for the season and more are in touch or are due to sign up, but we have not reached you all so I ask that if you are in a squadron then please visit our new website at www.il2league.com and spread the word to your squadron members. It is members that will make this a success, we look forward to meeting your squadron.

I see loads of squads in here talking up how active they are and how they are recruiting but how many of you have taken this league to your squad and asked your other members if you would consider joining? Credit to those that have, those that are active squads that want to continue that way

Anyway, onto real news.

I have also been frustrated by the lack of action by some in the community, but it all seems to work out well in the end. Natural Point is a great sponsor and helped me out quite a bit with our Summer DF Tournament.

Things are well under way, the league held it's first meeting yesterday to iron out major rules and how things will work. 334th_Prince also revealed that he is in early discussions with CH Products now about their support so things are looking up.

We plan to run a league for locked pit squads alongside starting in a few months (on Warclouds type settings) and look forward to some competitive action from more squads.
