It rather looks as if my friendly Brighton banter towards the evil palarse has received the nix. So, I shall say it was a pleasure to meet you Osprey - a true Gent.

Oh, we hate Palarse, and we hate Palarse...

The Tangmere Pilots are currently up to our necks in Spaghetti and Chianti as we take on the Italians and the Luftwaffe in Sicily.

Come and have a look at our website and see if you measure up to becoming a Tangmere Pilot!

LOL! Having a pop at the mighty Eagles are we?

There's only one answer to that

"5-0, and you can't go home!"
"5-0, and you can't go home!"
"5-0, and you can't go home!" Wink

Being a season ticket holder at the time I was there for that one, you brought about 7000 which made for a tremendous atmosphere - loved every minute!

I was there too I'm afraid. Kerry Mayo was beaten every time down the left side...he's so slow. The only highlight of that game was when the announcer thought Andy (you must call me Andrew) Johnson had scored, announced Andrew and was left hanging by the crowd...except for us.
Oh by the way, do you want to borrow my dvd "1 night at Palace", it's the heroic story of Paul McShane's exploits of the 18th October 2005. bow
I just loved this quote from the Evening Standard...
"For Palace fans, being beaten by Brighton at home is as bad as it gets. For reasons totally unfathomable to the rest of the football nation, the two sets of supporters detest each other with a passion rarely seen outside the Balkans. No wonder Iain Dowie was "angry and disappointed" after the feeble midweek display"

* * * ALL PILOTS WILL FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONAL INFORMATION

OPERATIONAL BRIEFING D.A.F.

DATE:- 7th September 1943 ZERO:- 05:00 hours

STARTING FROM:TRAPANI AIRBASE

OPERATIONAL INFORMATION:- We have become aware of a surface RDF facility on the island of Pescatori, this unit is providing low level cover and pinpointing our ships at great distance, We estimate it must be at a high point on the island to be able to give it the range to detect our fleet. We bombed the facility last night from height but only caused minor damage although a fuel dump was seen to be ablaze and visible from miles around, If this is still alight use it as an aid to guide you in. The level bombers encounterd very little flak at Angels 20 but dont take that as any guide as you will be going in low level, We have detailed maps of Pescatori so use them to plan your route in and out,The Site is on the South face of the island.A Catalina is already on the surface acting as a navigation aid and rescue vessel in G6

Unfortunately the current spell of bad weather continues. Expect low cloud & poor visibility throughout the mission.

SPITFIRES Aircraft: Spitfire IX
Skin: TP_Italy_SpitfireIX Marking: OFF Arming: 100% fuel and 1x500lb 2x250 lb.

METHOD:- Take off from TRAPANI AIRBASE, climb to ANGELS ZERO & proceed to (GRID G5). Turn NW, maintain ANGELS ZERO, West Abeam Margherita head NNW Attack the site and expidite a return via G6, before returning to TRAPANI.
Note: An RAF Rescue Launch is patrolling in Grid G6 if any pilot should need to ditch.

HEIGHT:- SPITFIRES: ANGELS ZERO

INTELLIGENCE:- The Luftwaffe have been reluctant to engage of late, saving their aircraft in what they may view as a lost cause. However, there is always the possibility of encountering a standing patrol.

METEOROLOGICAL REPORT:- 8/10ths cloud at 2,500ft extending to 6,000ft. Wind 235 at 4 knots. Visibility: Poor.

SIGNALS:-
No. 1 Squadron call sign - F I L M S T A R
No. 43 Squadron call sign - I M P I
No. 145 Squadron call sign - R A B B I T
No. 601 Squadron call sign - A N G E L
Ground Control call sign B U L L E T

NORMAL MISSION POINTS:-
+1 M/P for every e/a destroyed
+1 M/P if all section a/c return to home base
- all this sorties M/Ps if friendly a/c killed by a section a/c
- 5 M/Ps for each section a/c lost

SPECIAL MISSION POINTS:-
+5 mission points for each RDF Tower Destroyed.
+20 If you work out what the hidden objective is and act and report it.

I like how you used the word 'announcer' in the loosest possible way. Agree
The way he announces the goals is great if you're about 10 years old but I'm not and it'd get on my nerves if I had to hear that week in and week out.
