When I go to multiplayer in the game it doesnt even seem to attempt to search for servers. Im sure whatever the answer is will make me feel stupid... but have at me. I really wanna get online.

I recommend downloading Hyperlobby:

It's an online system that allows you to find and connect to multiplayer games. This way, you don't have to direct connect by IP.

As klaiber says, hyperlobby is the way to go until you join a squad that may do other things.

You should also think about joining a squad - you can post your interest in this part of the Forums. By all means look u our website (see my sig). We are a European timezone squad. There are lots of squads to choose from.
