On March 31,1942, from elements of the 24th & 33rd Hikousentai (Flying Regiment) the 78th Hikousentai was created, joining with the 68th to eventually make up the core elements of the 14th Hikoudan.
In kind, March 31,1995, the 78th*Sentai "Virtual" Flying Regiment was officially reformed from elements of various squadrons and independent hyperlobby pilots.
Our growth though gradual, built around the concepts of "honor, conduct, & teamplay", has helped us evolve and grow, and I take great pride in flying with the fine gentlemen that have taken on the 78th*Sentai handle.
So please take a moment and wish the (other) members of the 78th*Sentai congratulations on their 3rd anniversary, yet most of all take a moment and reflect upon the fallen members of the real 飛行*第78*戦隊 (78th, Hikousentai), who like all combat pilots of all sides, fought for their country and people.
They keep on talking about doing a Pacific Theater campaign over in Forgotten Skies. It would certainly be cool if an experienced Japanese squadron showed up to play!
