*S* Pilots,
DC of the 3rd Bombardment Group here, offering a different change of pace. A dedicated Bomber Squadron, is now formed up and looking for pilots.

The 3rd Bombardment Group was based in Australia during World War II and flew various light, medium, and even the occasional heavy bomber. It is that unit I have based this new dedicated bomber squadron off of.

We fly the A-20, the A-24 (AKA the SBD Dauntless), the B-25, B-24, and the venerable B-17. Each plane has her own characteristics and each can be a real challenge to fly.

Now, I know some of you are wondering, "Why make a dedicated Bomber unit at all?" Well, it boils down to this. Fighter planes are fast, manuverable, and have alot of air-to-air capability. From an Air-to-Ground aspect, they have little to offer aside from straffing a target. The bombers, while slow, cumbersome, and sometimes down right difficult to get anywhere in, offers a completely different aspect in flight.

You make your attack run from a few miles away, and slowly make corrections as you get closer to your target. Also, seeing the bombs drop from the belly of one of these beasties and hit their targets, is a real nice sight to behold.

Yeah, they can be ungainly beasts. Sure, they can be slow to react to certain manuvers. But they can tear up the targets!

The whole thought process has to change from flying a Fighter to flying a Bomber. Formations and sticking close count for more in defense of a bomber, than breaking off and trailing an enemy plane. Ignoreing the incoming enemy fighters while concentrating on the ground target. That calls for a measure of guts.

If you are curious, come by and check us out further, at 3rd Bombardment Group

See you around the skies!

DC

Combat Engagement Report

Date: <<<Classified>>>
Location: Naha, Okinawa
Objective: Obliteration
A/C: B-25H armed with six 500lbs bombs.
Units: 3rd BG's 13th Squadron with Escort provided by elements from VBF-12.

Late afternoon bomber pilots took off for a routine day light bombing raid against the Japanese held airstrips at Naha, Okinawa. Lt. Colonel Darkcrest lead a two plane element into hostile territory and proceded to knock out important targets.

Ground resistance was considerable, with little in the way of aircraft provided by the opposition. Elements from the VBF-12, engaged a single N1K2 and a A6M5c.

The 13th took out the main headquaters building, several hangars, as well as a total of 13 parked aircraft.

After the succesful run, the 13th turned for home. Lt. Colonel Darkcrest's aircraft suffered from multiple anti-aircraft hits which caused asevere fuel leak. 2nd Lt. Scoll's aircraft suffered from multiple hits as well however, he managed to return to base. Lt. Col. Darckrest was forced to make a belly landing just sort of the 13th's temporary home base. The Crew of the Bad Bettie were able to get out from the craft safely and were picked up by a naval PBY and returned back to base.

(The above was based off of actual events that took place on a server for the 3rd's first bomb run night)

Thank you,
DC

Heya Pilots. . .

We are still here and still flying.

Just about finished with the Charters Towers Airfield map for basic training, flight checks, and other nice aspects.

Aside from that, we are still working with our Training Nights, also Mission Nights are shaping up with the 200th Sentai's Okinawa_1945 Server.

Come on and give us a Look!

Salute Gentlemen,
I'd like to communicate further on how to register with the server. I seem to have given it a cookie that I cannot control or delete without deleting all of my cookies. Please e-mail me at:

elogger@cox.net

so, that I can finish my registration and continue to apply for an application to the squad.

I also see that you use Ventrilo, I am familiar with TeamSpeak but, not Ventrilo.
I can also use Messenger at the address above.

Please advise on a comm that is good for both. I'm usually available most nights for a period of time.

By the way, if Central Time is not good for flying then, please advise.
I look forward to meeting you all,
Logger

Sounds good! We use Ventrilo mostly because it is what I am more familar with. I have used Team Speak in the past, however, without a really good headset, some people can come thru garbled and distorted. Ventrilo comes thru much cleaner and is also compatible with a Mac.

I'll add you to my MSN Messenger and see if we can get in touch. Talk you thru the Ventrilo Setup.

Glad to have you with us!

Thanks,
DC

I've been looking for this for a long time

I am interested, However I would prefer to be part of a crew on a bomber.

Gunners and ball turret gunners never get any credit, just like OL in football

Gunners are a key vital part of the survial of any bomber

I want to be part of a bomber crew, manning the 6 is what I prefer, but will man any firing position on a bomber.

I have yet to buy the game, I am dedicated and have lots of free time.. I am on the east coast (Florida)

What is the exact name of the game to buy?

Have verizon Fios and a very fast system.

I wanna be part of the next Memphis Belle crew

Want to be part of the best bombing crew on the entire internet.

If you are looking for a accurate dead shot gunner to protect your six... let me know

Will go apply on your website

Well, Utah, the game is called IL-2 Sturmovik:1946. However, it is with upmost certainty that you will soon get bored flying as a gunner.

The best thing you could do would be to learn to fly which is what we can teach you. I have noticed you have already signed up at our website. And I have accepted your application.

Come by and chat with us anytime you see us on.

Thanks,
DC
