Well, due to the demise of my regular coop group, I am now looking for an online squadron to get involved with. Been flying coops for the last couple of years, but due to personal reasons with some of our guys (good and bad), our group has gone the way of the dodo.

I do fly online when time permits, and I show up on ZvsW, Pacfic Conflict, and Winds of War occassionally to semi-regularly. Usually as Ernst_Rohr.

About me;
Been flying IL-2 since the original.
Originally a dedicated IL-2 jock online with IL-2, moved into fighters and bombers as the series progressed.
I fly full switch, occasionally with externals on.
Full HOTAS setup, Track IR, and Teamspeak.
Late 30's, live in Texas, tend to fly late evenings and weekends, when schedule permits.

As far as planes go;
I tend to fly as the dedicated opposition an awful lot, both in coop and in online play. Subsequently I tend to fly German and Japanese planes fairly often, and then Russian, American, and anything else. Very rarely fly British planes.

Basically, if its got a prop and guns, I will fly it. Wink I fly anything, bombers to fighters.

What I am looking for;
1# Fun!
2# Organization
3# Regular activity
4# See #1
5# Fellow pilots with a sense of humor are a must!

Most of my time has been in Axis birds, so I would tend lean that direction, but I can/will consider others. I guess if I had to preference it;
#1- German/Japanese
#2- Russian/USAAF
#3- USN

I tend to fly more early war than late, but I have a fair amount of time in both. I know early 109's well, and tend to fly 190's late. Pretty good familiarity with all the Japanese birds. Some time in Italian planes, mostly CR 42 and MC 200.

As far as Allied birds go;
I have flown most of the Russian planes, and I am fair in most of them. Hate the Yak-1, but like the subsequent Yaks.
I love USAAF planes, my grandfather built P-47's for Republic during the war, but I dont get to fly them much. Most of my USAAF time has been in P-39's and the odd P-38 (which I love, but dont seem to do well with).
USN planes are hit and miss, I do ok in them, but they just dont wow me like the USAAF birds do. Most of my flight time there has been in Wildcats.
RAF birds, I have very little time in at all to be honest. Much like USN crates, they just dont do it for me, Im afraid.

As far as skills;
Divebombing; pretty good, I hit more often then I miss
Gunnery; Fair, but I need a lot of work on high angle deflection gunnery
Level bombing; Good
Fighter bombing; I suck! Dont ask me to hit anything with level bombing runs in a fighter, I am awful at it.
Navigation; fair to poor. Just dont have enought practice at it to be honest.
Formation Flying; fair to poor. Straight and level is fine, past that, it starts going downhill. Once again, not enough time spent doing it.

So thats basically it. I am looking for a fun group of mature pilots, that do things regularly. Weeknights and Sundays are best for me, Fridays and Saturdays can be hit and miss for me due to RL commitments. I have a pretty good sense of humor, and tend to be easy going and laid back, and would prefer to fly with similar folks. Foulmouthed hotheads are not my ideal wingman! Wink

Thanks for taking a look, maybe I can find a new place to hang my flight cap! Smile

Ernie,

But, we need to know a wee bit about you first.

Wink

Okay, as far as the Fightin' Irish go ...

1# Fun!

Oh yeah. From crankin' up the TeamSpeak to shuttin' down past midnight we have a blast. There are plenty of witty, intel ... uh, smart, and funny mates here.

2# Organization

Well ... we have no organized hierarchy here but things seem to work out fine when it's time to get things done. We have campaigns three times a week and dogfights when they happen.

3# Regular activity

There are usually one or two squadrons of fighters and one squadron of bombers in each session. If you want to be a part of the loyal opposition, that's fine. There are no attendance requirements. Our squadron is large and busy.

4# See #1

The campaigns are very well designed. If you become a regular member you get all the custom skins you need. Our forums are very busy, fun and full of useful ... and totally useless information. For almost four years I have had a blast.

5# Fellow pilots with a sense of humor are a must!

You wanna laugh? Hook up with the :FI:.

Post a "hello" message in our "Off Topic" forum and meet the mates. Join in any other conversation in the forums.

Best of luck to you,

:FI:Falcon

Ernst - 3./JG 51 are top notch and you should seriously look into flying with them.

As for 4./JG 53, my squadron, we fly mostly Bf 109s (all variants)and participate with 3./JG 51 (and many others) in Forgotten Skies which is a dog fight style online war. There's no AI as with the coop based wars and game play is very different and more random and open.

Forgotten Skies missions are usually scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 21:30 EST (-5 GMT) - the times sometimes adjust +/- 30 min depending on the hosts availability.

4./JG 53 also participates in various online compaigns based off the Scorched Earth Campaign System. These campaigns are the more traditional 'COOP' style online war and includes AI. However with SEOW the command, control and planning are much more detailed then with the other COOP wars.

Currently Scorched Earth: Xtreme has several campaigns running or soon to start:

For example:

Unternehmen Barbarossa is currently underway and missions are scheduled for 22:00 EST on Fridays. Currently using the Kurland map representing Army Group North's advance through the Baltic states.

Tonight at 21:00 EST Kuban 1943 begins and following that at 22:30 EST a new pacific campaign 'Sands of Iwo Jima' will begin.

On Saturday at 21:00 a test mission for the North American squadrons with be run for the 1946 International Super Campaign is set to launch.

The 1946 Campaign has multiple squadrons participating from all over the world. Missions times and schedules are based to accommodate as many folks as possible.

For example Aussie missions are set for Fridays. NA for Saturday and Euro for Sundays.

Also on Saturday afternoons at 16:00 they have Operation Singapore underway.

Currently 4./JG 53 is rebuilding - our numbers fell off as players moved onto other things. We have just 3 members currently but are actively looking for mature pilots who enjoy flying campaigns. There' no requirement for our members to make every mission / campaign but we try to keep as active as possible so everyone has a chance to fly with the squadron regularly.

There's no skill requirement - we believe that with time in plane and in game everyone can get better. We prefer more team oriented players - those that prefer to fly and work together. We are a member of FISC - Full Immersion Squadron Community and will be participating in the FISC 4 v 4 Dogfight challenge.

2 of our member are in their 30s and we have one younger guy.

If you are interested please visit our web site and contact me via our forums or using the contact button in the main menu of our 4./JG 53 site.

If 4./JG 53 doesn't suit you I highly recommend you look into 3./JG 51 - they are a talented group and I am sure you will have much fun flying with them.

Click on my sig below to visit the 4./JG 53 web site.

Come check out the Rogue Saints:

[RS], The Rogue Saints, are recruiting mature, team minded, dedicated individuals for our Virtual Fighter Wing. [RS] is an established clan. We have been around since May of 2002, starting as a Ghost Recon team, and eventually growing from there. Our member’s ages range from 22 to 63 (most people are probably in their 30’s). We have people with military backgrounds, as well as folks without military backgrounds.

We have regular scheduled open flight nights and closed practices in order to prepare for competitive Forgotten Skies Missions, co-op tournaments, league play, and regular matches. So if you’re a veteran or just starting out please come check us out and fill out an application.

Requirements:
- You must be 20 years or older to join RS
- You must be able to use in game voice communications (TeamSpeak)

If this is the type of gaming ‘family’ you would like to belong to, and you meet the requirements listed above, please go to our website; www.rogue-saints.com , and fill out an application and/or post in our forums.

See you on the battlefield,

[RS] Command Team
