THE TEMPEST UNION
Who We Are
The Tempest Union was founded on January 15th, 2006, by Ciel, to help support the game, Heroes of the Pacific. Ciel’s other motivation was getting a PS2 Squadron in the virtual air to combat FEAF, a once proud squadron that had fallen under the control of crass internet braggarts, bullying the PS2 maps of Heroes of the Pacific. It wasn’t long before FEAF left the game, as with the help of the OADF(Osean Air Defense Force), FEAF was humbled by Ciel’s First Attack Squadron for the PS2.
PC players looking for comradeship and teamwork began to enlist, and within three months TTU was fielding One PS2, Two PC, and one Xbox squadron for Heroes of the Pacific. We had become the Dominant Squadron in the game, and were never seriously Challenged by another organized Squad.
The Tempest Union also made its presence felt in the short lived UbiSoft game, Blazing Angels.
By late 2007, online Heroes of the Pacific had gone nearly dormant, with seemingly, only TTU playing the game.
Which brings us to today, a month after our Two Year Anniversary, realizing that the personalities and energy and philosophies that have kept this Union together for two years, can keep it together for as long as we want to have a TTU.
We have built our Squadron for IL2 Sturmovik 1946, and with this recruitment drive, are looking forward to another growth spurt.
That is a condensed history, but what are we about? Why do so many keep returning and posting their thoughts and ideas? Why such Loyalty? Should you enlist here? Would you be happy here? Read on.
The Manifesto
What We Are
Freedom of Information. We like sharing what we know and learning from others. This is not the place to save your favorite moves or tricks or cheats for yourself. We are a team and the Strength of the team is the objective we seek. Yes, personal accomplishments are good, and are encouraged, but Team accomplishments are better. The Free Exchange of Knowledge can only create a more powerful Union, and be more fun.

Diverse Global Membership. TTU’s members come from Belgium and South Africa, Hong Kong and Finland. We are in Every Region of the United States, as well as Queensland and South Australia, and Parts of Canada.
We range in age from 65 to 14, which allows a lot of knowledge and maturity to be passed down, while a lot of energy and creativity is passed upwards.
We are Bankers, and Plumbers, and University Students and Musicians, High School Students and Magazine editors, who enjoy having fun.

Common Interests. Despite that diversity, we have many common interests, that can be deduced by looking at the games we play.
First and Foremost, Aviation. And Aviation History, Military History, and History in General.
We love anything that flies!
We are captivated by the drama and intrigue involved in military maneuvers.
We have had many long discussions, debates, tutorials, on the movements, mobilizations, invasions, and incursions, that cratered the 20th Century.
A number of us seem to have a common interest in Graphic Arts, whether Photo Shopping custom skins, or editing a game vid to put on You Tube, or going to University majoring in Computer Arts.
An ability to play music or simply a love of listening to music is shared by most all of us here.
The Artistically Bent are welcome here.
And of course, a knowledge and enjoyment of the frustration only computers can bring you is shared by all of us.
Finally, we all just wanna have FUN!

n00bs Are Welcome. We were all noobs once, there really isn’t much more to say, is there. In fact, we enjoy recruiting and training the noob to play our way, it all goes back to freedom and sharing of information.

No Whining. Complaining about a game only ruins it for those around you. Cheating is rare, if you’re getting beat all the time, it’s likely you need to improve. It’s probably just lag anyway. Name calling exchanges, flaming posts, will not be tolerated in the Forum. Foul language will not be tolerated in the forum or the game chat box, as well as ventrilo. We treat our competition as gentlemen until they prove us wrong.

Recruitment for IL2 Squadron

We are seeking committed gamers from around the globe, of any age and experience, who want to experience the protection and camaradier of squadron flying in IL2 Sturmovik 1946. If you enjoy this game, or have it and need help getting started, come see us.

Our own private Ventrilo Server allows us to fly as a squadron, always with coms, watching each others six.
While our Ventrilo server has several password protected channels, we keep one channel open to the public to allow new, or future friends to visit. If you hve Ventrilo, enter ip address; 72.37.221.147 port # 3966 and give us a holler!

We have just completed our first season at the United Squadrons League, where we made the playoffs and took third in our Division,, not bad for a team with an average of 9 months in IL2! We are always looking for more organized competitions to get involved with.

Our Dedicated server, ip address; 68.39.131.30 port; 21000, most often open to the public, is currently under password to allow us to practice USL maps in privacy. The server allows us to set up scrimages with other squads, or work together in privacy while training new players.

We love doing custom skins, now, we have an entire Air Force worth. Not really historical mind you, but more Fantasy oriented, our own Designs. But shouldnt every Squadron have its own insignias and color schemes?
