I have read these forums over and over again and I am completely frustrated. My PC rig exceeds the minimum requirements and the game still freezes and crashes. The support I received from Ubisoft in the US is a laugh and a joke. I keep getting a runaround or wait 21 days to submit the same question that I originally did not get an answer to? Anyway, I am taking this dud back to where I got and I think it is ludicris to have to do all these things to your rig just to play a stupid game that should have been delt with from the beginning. I mean I loaded Crisis without doing anything on the highest settings and no problems since I bought it. WHAT GIVES??!!? Good luck to all of you and thank you for hearing my rant.

Post your DXDIAG here. Almost all problems are solved in the forums.

Remember that in the future. Don't go to Ubi tech support for help - instead, come to the forums, where you'll actually get REAL help.

  • Even for a flop on pc i got to admit that the vision of the artist(s) for Vegas is beyond speech. What i am seeing in game now is by far the best i have seen in any other game for realism. (coding) was the problem.
  • For a community that had potential to help YOU(UBI) they are the ones lurking in the shadows waiting for something better and you refuse to help. Even yourself.? This I don't understand.
  • Release some tools to the pc community for an over all better RaInbow 6 division.

I forgot to say this -- I exchanged disks and I finally got to play for one solid hour and then it froze to black screen but you can still hear sound and then whole computer locks up. I spoke with Ubisoft tech and he stated that everything looked good except my video card. PLease help/

One thing to try, is to down clock the speed of the video card's GPU and ram, some cards come from the makers with a slight over clock, and this game doesn't seem to like that.

I tried to install earlier drivers (GeForce 8800 GT) and turned on the triple buffering. It played 45 minutes and froze up with same reults as before. How do you underclock your rig?

Not your rig, just the card. By using nvidia's nforce_system_tools_6.00. Only use the GPU configuration section in it.

Why would an overlocked video card have any problems playing this game? The 8800GT is one of the most purchased, recent, nvidia cards (i have one too).. Over or underclocking it will just make it less stable than it is now.

If you don't mind waiting 5 days to get a reply that doesn't really help.

Over clocking will make it less stable, under clocking will make it more stable, as the GPU and the video ram are not having to work as hard at a lower clock speed. Indifferent

Wrong. Overclock makes the card unstable. Normal clock is the norm. To drag more out of it and/or brag with their benchmarkscores, people start overclocking. For that reason the popular nVidia GF cards are often factory overclocked. To make them score higher in the reviews.
These overclocked cards run even sooner too hot in the small chassis most of the average gamers have.
Your claim about underclocking is nonsense.

    And what's up with:

yep if you overclock hardware it makes it run hotter and the hotter the hardware is running the more electrical resistance you get in the chips/surround board.

this increased resistance can slow the card to the point were it causes it to crash as it cant put data through and since most graphics cards dont have any actualy heat sink on them they heat up realy fast. another problem of the added resitance is you need more power to run the card meaning a weak power suply could hit its limit causing a crash.

now on the other hand if you underclock the card it will run much cooler meaning there is less resistance in the entire card meaning it needs less power to run and it can transmit the data easier.

my 8800GT is one of the few that isnt factory over clocked but the card still ran on average between 60-90c meaning any overclocking no matter how slight would cause problems and it did actualy cause slow down in the games.

since then I put a custom cooler and ram sinks on the card making it run at under half the origonal temp even at standard clock speed I am getting alot more preformance and I havve yet to find a game that can raise the temp or cause it to crash.

so considering underclocking does this without the need to void the warenty of the graphics card and take it apart and clean up any thermal compound (most I have took aprat it has been a total mess) befoe reaplying it and finding the correct heat sink for your card it is actualy a viable option for most people.

Ok, I downloaded the Nvidia system tool 6.0. Now what settings would you recommend and on what devices? Card? Motherboard? etc..

Only the card... (GPU, or VGA)
    Lower the video memory clockspeed.

Do not use the tool to manage the other hardware, you don't have an nVidia motherboard, and it's Intel chipset and CPU you have, so only use the tool for the nVidia videocard you have.

My memory clock speed is running 950MHz and cooling is 30%. Should I run 425MHz or 650MHz? How do I know what to choose without affecting the rest of my games or my rig?

drop it to about 800 also it would be worth putting the cooling to as high a percentage as you can put up with as the graphics cards get hot. just the higher the cooling the louder the fan will be.
