I bought Assassin's creed almost a year ago and it worked fine until now. If I start the game, everything workes fine during the ubisoft logo and the opening scene. After I select my profile, the audio stops playing. When I play the game further, some of the audio works, like the music and such, but the sounds of the fights do not work anymore. I reinstalled it, but it did not solve the problem. Then I started searching on the internet, and saw that there were more people with this problem. There were some poeple who new how to solve it in XP (by setting the acceleration to basic or something) but that does not work with vista. So I don't know what to do now.

you dont have any sound drivers installed other than the microsoft stand in drivers designed for nothing more than to make the PC start, find out what your sound device is and install it's real driver and the problem should be fixed.

also it would be worth updating your graphics driver as it is about a year old now.

There could also be a corruption in the games config file so you could try deleting it manually and letting the game create a new one the next time it loads. You will find the file in Documents/Games/Assassin's Creed and it is called 'assassin.ini.' Simply right-click on it and delete. The next time you load the game it will create a brand new config file.

But, as caswallawn_2k7 has pointed out, it's quite likely that the issue releated to sound card drivers. I'd say the best way to get help with this would be to contact your machines manufacturer.
