hello all

i've been having some strange crash problems strickly only isolated too assassin's creed while trying to run it at 1680x1050.
i've been running the game on a Nvidia 8800 GTS
with the 175.16 version drivers. and all assassin's creed does is crash after about afew minuets of gameplay, or an immediate crash after everything is done loading.

Now with past experiences, i have been able to go fully through the entire game at 1280x960 while i was using a small 17 inch monitor (now i've upgraded too a 22) without any sort of crash and/or problems at all. and since i got this new monitors i've been running all my games at 1680x1050 with full screen anti lasing for the most part with no problems and a descent fps rate at around 30-60 (I.E. Games like Mass Effect, ESIV:Oblivion, Crysis, Bioshock)

All these games run at full screen 1680x1050 without any problems what so ever. but Assassin's Creed is the only thing that's constantly crashing on me.

has this been happening to anyone else thats using this card? i might just have to reduce settings for this game only..

Forgot. Oh, and i intentionally have my sound card drivers out of date. i'm pretty much forced too use the drivers off the disc cause the official release along with the beta release has problems and constantly mutes my sound.

Yes you should. It is confirmed by a number of Geforce card users that reducing its memory speed can do wonders.
Also, leave the 3D settings in nV control panel at default (to let the application decide).

After you switched monitors (from a CRT to a digital widescreen), did you try reinstalling the drivers and the game (to let the hardware freshly be detected and autoconfigured)?

also on the sound when you install the new drivers check the default in sound (under controle panle) as when I installed the lastest drivers for my Xonar D2X it set the default as the wrong device (card shows as multiple) meaning it didnt seem to play any sound. also check that your card software is set to use the correct output (e.g. sdif or speakers)
