Every time I start the game it crashes to desktop imediately after loading. There is no message. Can anyone help. I have the directors cut retail version.

You should keep your system updated with drivers, your video card drivers are from 2005, try the latest WHQL drivers from Nvidia :- GeForce Release 175.16
It might pay to check for other driver updates too, sound card, motherboard etc.

Select your soundcard, download and install its drivers. At the moment you're only running the very old generic windows drivers for the card...
