I believe it is fixed now, but i had not read any of the above post. I re enabled the X fi and re installed the drivers. I realised that i had forgot to bring my memory clock index down from overclocking, i think it was a bit too high to be stable for the system so i decreased it and it seems to have fixed the final problem now.
Once again thanks very much everyone, especially BlindNero, sorry that you had to write an extensive post to help me which wasnt needed. I am not 100% sure that the problem has been fixed, if it re-appera i will report back. If i don't, you can assume that all is well. I may even join you in helping others as i have learned quite a few fixes now for Assassin's Creed Oh and BTW, a bit off-topic and an incredibly retarded question but, if i have a 2ghz dual core AMD does that means it runs at 2ghz for each core so in total 4ghz? or is it 2 hz shared among two cores, so 1ghz+1ghz =2ghz? (i know im stupid) i assume its the first one though. |

its 2 seperate cores both running at 2ghz each so in theory it is a 4ghz cpu but the main advantage of it is you can get twice as much going through it at the same time as the data can be sent to the cores independantly meaning it can take twice as much data that is why when the dual cores started they had lower clock speeds as the added bandwidth allowed it to run alot faster.

Ahaa! So, overclock after all!
No, a dual- quad- octocore CPU @ 2 Ghz is still 2 Ghz; it's the clockspeed per core, but they work simultaneously so you don't add them up. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx BlindNero Forums for online Dark Messiah MM and other games support |

Sorry to bring a dead thread back to life but i have another question that i thought there was no point making another thread over.
Anyway so my 8800gt is advertised as having 1800mhz memory clock but my pc has only detected it as having 900 mhz? in ati tool and rivatuner etc? why is that? EDIT: Oh wait now, it was advertised as 900mhz, sorry my bad, i saw on some places advertising as 1800mhz though |

Hey all. New face about. Just bought AC, and, guess what... similar problems as above. Seems I, like Safi, only get a black screen with sound as the game loads. I had a prompt during this that my video driver stopped working but fixed the problem (obviously not, as the screen remained black). I've got the most recent drivers, and I'm running a quad core 9650 at 3.0GHz and dual 8800 GTX, on Vista64ultimate (grumble). If you've got a bit of patience for my tech-newbiness, I'll pass along as much other pertinent info as I can. Thanks.

if you want tech help make a topic asking for help detail your problem and post your compleat DXdiag. also dont grumble about vista 64bit it runs old 32 bit games as well as XP ever did and it runs the 64 bit games a hell of alot faster than both XP and XP Pro X64.
under vista type dxdiag in the search bar and hit enter in the new window that opens selects save all information allow it time to work then save the text file were you can find it and copy and paste the entire contense into your post. |

I bought this game on release day, and to this date have not managed to get it running for long. At launch it ran for 45ish mins before blue screening, after the patches I'm lucky to get 13mins beofre a blue screen.
I'm running: intel q6600 @ 2.4ghz, 2x XFX 8800GT O'C, 6gb of ddr2-800 ram (4-4-3-4 timing) and win Vista x64. Since my system is well above recommended specs, I'm at a loss to explain why I can't run this game. I can run everything else at maxx'd detail in huge monitor res without ever crashing. Why this game? I know ubisoft care only for console players, but if they're going to release a game for pc, why can't they make sure it actually works first? I want to play this game I've had since release. |

Typical factory overclocked card issue. Read through many other threads, it's stated multiple times.
Install nforce system tools 6 and reduce the videomemory speed.
