I already posted a question in the Support section of the site, but I get the feeling I will get an answer faster from here.

I recently bought the game Assassins Creed for the PC and I am having a problem with the game freezing. The game install went great and I passed the Detect Tool with flying colors.

When I launch the game it begins to load the game all the way up to 51% and then it just freezes. No matter how long I wait it just hangs there.

Can anyone help?

I know my system specs are great. Here is a DXDIAG of my machine, its a beast:

update your graphics drivers at nvidia.com as they are nealry a year old. also go to AMD.com and install the dual core optimiser that is found in the drivers section for the athlon X2 CPU's.

I tried updating the graphics driver and that did not help. And then I noticed in another post a lot of people are having the same problem. It turns out if I unplug my ethernet cable it works fine.

Is there a fix for that, is it possible there is a conflict between my Linksys router or its firewall? Is there any sort of fix for this, because I need my internet connection to be always on.

You could bypass the "internet updater" part and run the game directly instead by going into the Assassin's Creed folder (where you have it installed on your PC), then in your case run the "AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe" file.

If that works, then for convenience you could make a shortcut to that file for when you want to run the game.

Alternatively, I think some people have suggested to block the assassin's creed program in the firewall settings.

Good luck!

Try blocking the Updater in your (or Windows-) firewall.
Or, disconnect your Network (Internet) Connection.
Or, just rename the folder "Resources" in the game's directory, by adding an "X", to XResources"... it should put it out of order as well.
I personally haven't had any problem related to the updater. I haven't disabled it and still running 100.1 version of the game.
