When i load the launcher, the updater pops up for a fraction of a second, then closes. When i try to run the game direct from the DX9 .exe, nothing happens beyond a short flash of the hourglass pointer.

BTW, This is the Director's Cut edition of the game, if that makes a difference.

Update your nVidia drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.16_whql.html

Slightly lower the mem clock on your videocard, it helped other people with Geforce cards.

Your 1.8Ghz E2160 CPU is below the system requirements. (Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.2 GHz minimum recommended) Keep the game's settings low.

It's overclocked (stable) to 3.0GHz, and the video card came that way - but i'll give it a shot. I updated the drivers since i posted this.

The mem speed reducing applies to all cards running at stock speeds and the stock OC'd as well.

I just checked something, and it turns out its running at 2.6GHz - SP3 was just reading it out wrong.

Reinstalling and trying again.

the chip I have alot of people said would overclock easy to 3.2ghz but if you try to use it intensivly at that it causes problems. the fact is with overclockign alot of people state speeds that the chip will run at but they are unstable. also you need to check your cooling as the people who over clock have large scale custom coolers as the chips throw out tons of heat when overclocked.

Works! Also i have a Noctua NH-U12P - No cooling problems there ^_^ I do this stuff alot.
