Hi
For the record, my game has been producing bad sound of all sorts, like stutters, crackles and so forth. I maybe have finished sorting the problems today, well my last start of the game was promising at least. And im still working with Windows XP on now SP3.

I was extremely unhappy that AC didnt work as it should, and another new game suddenly produced similar problems too.
Under different circumstances i have bought a new Harddrive and installed Vista from a friend. Assasins Creed and the other game worked really good now. But Vista has too many disabilities over XP that i didnt like it.
In another move some time later i installed XP again ,and oooh AC runs great too, but i didnt continue much because i had other things to do. Still made me thinking, what does the new installed XP have ,and my old doesnt, to run AC good?

Some days ago i reinstalled Windows XP completly over my primary disk, which is supposed to be my workplace. I laid special care onto the installation. XP is real great btw lol.

Today i had some time to install AC again and troubleshoot. Ive done a test run in the initial scene and it worked just as good as previously. Ok then i added my old savegame in which i have reached the first big city.
Upon starting the game a second time, i noticed that some sounds were cut of or silent. The first speech in the game was inaudible as well and the loudness fluctuated badly. What the heck..
Ok i reinstalled the game, and it ran great again. Then i have restarted the game, and there were loudness problems again. For example when you start the game and are to press a key before selecting your profile, you press a key and it makes bling normally, now it only does bli...

This lead me to edit the DARE.INI ,because its created before the second start.
DISABLE_OPTIMISATION=TRUE fixes the loudness issue ,cut of sounds, inaudible voices etc. For me at least.

I have raised the grafical settings some, and the grafic and audio stutters increased. Audio stutters more thou. This was shocking it was like ever before ,but not quiet how i found out because there wasnt input lag or any speed issue anymore. And it was my Vista savegame in which i had no issue. This just leaves me to balance the grafical settings for now, and it runs acceptable.

This is a list of issues i have/had with the game.

- General speed issue
Slowmotion effect, added with input lag when looking around with the mouse etc..
Seems to be fixed since XP reinstallation
- General Sound crackle issue
The sound crackles permanently ,horrible in addition to the stutter issue.
Seems to be fixed since XP reinstallation
- Sound stutters issue
The first few letters of a persons speech are done twice sometimes. Attacking with fists you sometimes hear 2 hits sometimes just 1 i think 1 is normal. Same with every other sample, backgrondsounds and so on. Sometimes before a persons speech, the video stalls too for a blink.
The problem seems to raise with higher video quality settings in XP, although in Vista it was nonexistant on highest settings.
- Inaudible Voices issue
Cant hear people, or random sounds as simple as the menu sounds when you click on a button. Sometimes the sounds are also cut off in the middle.
Fixed with setting audio hardware acceleration to minimum, although this setting sometimes doesnt stick and its way too big of a hassle to do.
I prefer the other fix, editting the DARE.INI change
DISABLE_OPTIMISATION=FALSE
into
DISABLE_OPTIMISATION=TRUE

That is so far i have found out, and i may be able to play AC today for once if i still dont find anymore problem grrr. I havent had much of a problem with any other game, and all Ubisoft is doing is blame my hardware. Crysis runs better but Ubi is right with setting the minimum requirements above Crysis's recommended ones. Im not gonna buy a Ubisoft game anymore for sure.
