hey, I just bought assassins creed off steam and will not start. I open up the program, and nothing happens for about 15 seconds and then it says assassinscreed.exe has encountered an error and must shut down. The error provides no other info. There was a program that opened before it that said I had the minumum requirements or more. The only thing i can think of is the problem i've been hearing about saying that it doesnt think i have a serial or that my drivers arent right. Anyways, i payed 30 dollars and i would really like to get it working so any help would be appreciated.

Interesting, sounds like you are having the same problem as I have been having. I run the game from steam too. Makes me wonder if trying a DVD version would be an interesting test. I don't have access to one right now though to try.

I have contacted ubisoft help and they have run me through many ideas, none of which have worked.

Let me know if you find something that works and I will do the same.

first uninstall the beta driver you are using for your graphics card and install the nnewest final version driver as the beta drivers tend to be unstable.

also try using the nvidia system tools after the new drivers are installed to lower the graphics memory clock by about 100-200mhz to see if it makes the game any more stable.

its not a beta driver i dont think. is that what my dxdiag says? anyways the game doesnt even load up, it just says it has encountered an error and must close. I have directx9 and windows xp so i cant get dx10

the driver isnt signed by microsoft so it will be a beta driver as nvidia sign all thier drivers.
