For some reason the DX10 version of Assassin's Creed crashes every time I try to start it up from the shortcut. I end up having to completely restart my computer. The DX9 version works just fine.
My computer is DX10 compatible (Windows Vista 32 bit/GeForce 8800 GTX). I've made sure everything is up to date (including the game, my video driver, windows updates, and even direct X itself). I also tried reinstalling the game. None of this worked. On a side note, I can't start the game up with the autorun program either, or it crashes. I have to use the DX9 shortcut. This is strange, because a couple months ago it was working fine from the autorun program and (presumably) DX10 was working. I suppose it's possible that the latest video drivers killed it somehow. I was using GeForce 1.69 drivers before, and it was working fine. It was after I updated the drivers to 1.75 that this started happening, but a lot of other changes happened too so it's not like I can isolate the problem to one variable. It's also possible that I had been accidentally running the DX9 version from the autorun, and the DX10 version never worked for me in the first place. In any case, it's kind of a waste to have a DX10 compatible machine, and not be able to use DX10 with a game that's supposed to support it. Any ideas? |
