I was installing AC Directors Cut, and half way through it came up with a Jerusalem.forge error, and gave the option of abort, retry or ignore, i tried retry a few times, rebooted and then in the end ignored. Now im up to the part where i have to go there... When i walk into Jerusalem from the Kingdom area, it sits at the loading screen where your character walks around in the clouds so to speak... And yes ive waited longer, up 1.5 hrs thinking it just being slow...
I returned my DVD to the store i bought it from thinking it just a one off error, except the second dvd has the same problem when installing... I bought the game and didnt download from a pirated version... And i havnt been able to find any PC patches or advice on ANY forum about this problem... Any help?? |

just to clarify, when i was installing the error was something along the lines of "'jerusalem.forge' doesnt match the .cab"
or something similar... |

do you have the pirited version on your computer aswell? the to versions could be messing each other up.

HEy, ive got the exact same problem. If you hit ignore it installs the rest of the game, so at least you can play everything up to the first jerusalum mission.
No solution though, seems to be a corrupt patch going by the error messages. HELPS US UBISOFT! |

I'm also having this problem with the directors cut edition. I get a CRC error when extracting data4.cab. Anything from UBI on this one?

There is no ignore option given if the file fails to install, believe me if there was I'm sure many of us would have hit that baby just to get even part of the game played. Including myself and I've attempted to install it 5 times as it is.

I had an error in the same place! See my post in the general forum.
I fixed it by installing from a different DVD drive - My slower DVD writer drive to be precise , maybe slightly faulty batch of discs perhaps? |
||||
|
Nope, dont have the pirated version my computer... didnt even know one existed untill now. So is there a fix coming or one out... Or should i just get my money back...? |
||||
|
And... I dont have another DVD drive... and i shouldnt have to go and get a second installed to play properly... I tried moving all the files from the dvd into C: and then install into D: but it hasnt worked... Is there ANY fix for this?

I tried 2 drives and got the same problem. I've RMAed it back to play.com for a refund already. This isn't going to get fixed unless they re-image the retail DVD.

I'm in the same boat with a crc error on data4.cab. Can't copy it and install it from the hard drive either

use CD-Bremse located at http://cdspeed2000.com/download.html
Its the second one on that page you want. It sets your DVD Drive Speed to go at 1x speed, (its worth while to wait) this smart program will succesfully install your Assassins Creed. |

I have the same problem
tried both Neo-Drive speed and Cd-Bermse but both only set my DVD to min of 4X and the game still wont install.... dam i hate this **** |

I have the same problem :/ The minimum is 4 and it wount install :S

I have the same problem, but I don't think it's a reader problem - I updated mine to the latest firmware, and confirmed via the manufacturer's website that it can read dual-layer DVDs. I still get errors when it reaches that file in the install - it says invalid function in data4.cab. I tried copying the disc contents to my hard drive, and when it gets to data4.cab, it says "Invalid MS-DOS function". Those progs don't seem to help. I'm using Vista Home Premium 64-bit, if that's of any help.

xzap unfortunatly this is a error with certain DVD drives as if it was a problem with the disc no PC would be capable of installing the game. another thing you could try is getting a cd lens cleaner and cleaning the lens in your dvd drive as this can also cause problems.

I only bought my new computer yesterday, so that's not the problem. Any other ideas? I'm starting to think I'll never get to play this game...

Only yesterday, that's bad, you have my sympathy
The sad fact is though, the copy protection used by the game can conflict with certain models of drive, and if it happens, and there are no firmware updates for your drive, the only thing I can suggest is possibly seeing if a friend can lend you an external drive that can read the disc, it's worked in the past on other games that give this install problem. The game requirements state that 64-bit Windows is unsupported, but plenty of people are able to run the game on it. btw, have you tried using CD-Bremse as mentioned in a previous post, or Nero DriveSpeed, which will also slow down the read speed to try and get past the error, although most that succeed need to slow down the drive to 1x speed. Why not? New does not equal good. You haven't posted any specs yet. And then: the game DVD can be faulty, so you can try returning it for a new one. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx BlindNero Forums for online Dark Messiah MM and other games support |

I think I'll have to try returning it - I tried it on my old laptop, and that always stopped on that file as well.
Specs: Intel quad-core Q9450 2.66GHz processor 4GB 800MHz RAM 2x 1GB GeForce 8800GT (SLI) Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card LG GSA-H55L DVD drive Tried that CD-Bremse, and it didn't help. I think I'm out of options... |
