I am playing AC but its very slow, but a friend of mine with the same config is running the game with high settings and with full Anti Aliasing and is very smooth for him.
Even Fraps cant show me the fps I am getting. It makes a weird design.

My CPU config:

Intel MotherBoard DG31PR,
E8400 3.00 ghz Core 2 Duo Processor,
4 GB Ram,
Gigabyte 9800GT 1 GB DDR 3
Windows XP Service Pack 2

My friend has the same CPU but he has 512 MB version of the same card and Windows 7 Ultimate

He does not even overclock his PC and he gets a very smooth game.

So please suggest on how I can make the game smoother.

Assassin's creed seems to have problems with onboard soundcards, which it appears you have. Try going into dxdiag, turning your Sound Hardware Acceleration slider to "off" and test the game again. I had a similar problem when I first played, and that fixed it up immediately.
