This thread was started Nov 2007, before patch 1.2.

I just bought a really great laptop just to play games like this. I bought the game(director's cut edition) install it, autopatch it then the demo appears so as the menu but when I play it all I see it a blank screen and some dots... I can hear the sounds, move, play but no image.... Please help =) and at the detection tool everything is green ticked.

It's your graphics card which may not be on the requirement list. If I recall correctly it doesn't work well on Laptops anyway.

Now my problem. My game crashes after I select the memory I want to choose after the my profile page.

I'm getting near the end of the game and have noticed more and more glitches as I've gone along. My previous experience playing Ubisoft games is limited to the first 3 installments of Splinter Cell, but this is the buggiest by far.

Glitches I have noticed:

• Altair seems to get stuck next to walls. This is a big problem in a fight.
• Another prevalent issue is the one where it is difficult to get Altair to step down from a ladder (he keeps stepping back onto the bottom rung. You can hit certain keys at the right moment, but very irritating nonetheless.
• The eagle circling a view point lands on the perch while Altair is there, so that their bodies intersect with the eagle going through Altair's body.
• Birds frozen in the sky.
• NPCs sitting suspended above a bench.
• NPCs running in circles or otherwise stuck while walking or running.
• Guards speaking languages other than English when English is selected as the language.
• A guard stuck standing in midair several meters above the ground and about a meter from a building, telling me that he is going to get me while not moving from his position until I killed him.

And all this with the latest patch installed!

90% of the time that problem is caused by low end graphics cards (under or right on the min spec) and there is no fix for it. if you want more help. post a new post in the comunity help and support forum with a DXdiag. but if you do have a low end graphics card there is no fix.

And I'm bitterly disappointed that the XBox360 controller for windows (wireless) is not properly supported. I just bought it to play the new Prince of Persia. Does UBISoft want me to buy a new controller with every game.

I've just purchased Assassin's Creed through steam. Now my problem is that when I try to run it through Steam it loads and after it loads I get a black screen and I can hear sound coming through. Now I tried setting the Lauch Options on steam but still same problem. Also I tried the game "AssassinsCreed_Dx9" which works fine when loaded without going from Steam. Also I tried setting the Lauch Options so that it will load "AssassinsCreed_Dx9" and when I try it through steam I get the same problem. I also tried "AssassinsCreed_Dx10" & "AssassinsCreed_Game" without loading them from Steam and I get the same black screen but sound ok error. Anyone knows what the problem might be? o_O

P.s. I have a laptop using Vista with Nvidia GeForce 9800M GDDR3 512Mb Graphic Card and this is the only game I'm experiencing with this error. Also game is patched automatically to 1.02.

go to nvidia.com (dont use the drivers from the laptop manufacturer as they will be old) and install the latest mobile driver for your card as you should be capable of running DX10. also it may be worth installing the latest version of directx from microsoft.com. if this doesnt work make a new threat in the help and support forum with your problem and a full dxdiag report and some1 will try to help you further.

Thanks for your help. Yesterday for some strange reason after I closed my xfire program, I didn't get the black screen when I loaded the game through Steam. :O

yep it's actualy well known xfire and other such programs cause problems with the game.

Yes, I am using that option. The point is that the default mapping is incorrect and the vibration does not work. I see others reporting the same issue.

To play the game with XBox360 controller:

Make sure to disable your antivirus- and system protection software before installing.

1. download and install Xinput Driver for Microsoft Common Controller (32 Bit).

2. download your controller image

3. download and install XPadder v 5.3

4. plug in controller + headset into controller

5. calibrate and test controller

Make sure you don't have another controller plugged in like f.i. a Nostromo controller.
And make sure the XBox360 controller is turned on before launching Assassin's Creed.

I don't know this bug is known yet, but I don't want to make time for reading 33 pages of bugs while playing.

I have the pc versions, but I think this will be a problem on the console too.

The bug only appears in memory block 4, in Jeruzalem, the assassination mission. I enter the region from the rooftops. It says, ancestors memory now recording, or something like that, so I can't go to high profile anymore. Neighter is anything going to happen below me. I'm stuck and can't continue. This is the 3rd time i'm playing this game, and this bug only appears with this mission, and only when standing on the rooftops.
