have you tried disabling some stuff in the game options such as multi sampling. I see no reason why it shouldnt run the game on full as it is roughly the same power as a 9800. the only other explination I can think is when you run DX10 it is causing the GPU to run and give power to help the CPU but that functionality isnt ment to go in Vista till DX11 in a few months.

all I can suggest other than that is make sure you have the assassins creed patch installed and the latest drivers for your motherboards chipset.

my game keeps crashing!!!!!! i will start it up and it will load normally. but then, after the preview cutscene, just before the main menu, it stops and says it cannot run the game and it says that windows will notify me when there is a solution! what should i do?

I installed patch, and it has more bugs than before. At least without patch it had less bugs, maybe not single one, except audio.

Glitches:
At end of loading of any level, and that occurs at the Ubisoft intro to the "This games....all religions" it stutters and when comes to the fighting scenes (any). Before actual sound of hack slash, scream sound, it stutters. Not just sound but the whole game.
The boss bell, and the temple bells stutters.
Animation scenes: voice goes OK but SFX is off sync. Noticed when you enter the tower where "Doc. Mengele" is and when they are braking legs to the "patient". They brake his legs then sound goes of "leg braking".

Sometimes when I start the game, audio goes all reverb, I have to exit and start the game again.

I think this new patch has more glitches than actual original game has.

I tried basic hardware, and none, acceleration, and same thing happens.

I reinstalled game, without patch, and I have same problem. But it worked before without problem.

I recently bought X360 gamepad, can this be a problem for a game?

Other games work.

That is not bug or glitch of this game, but on your PC. So you posted this in the wrong thread.

Yes this is a problem, and a glitch, one of many that AC is suffering.

I see that other people have problem, solved or unsolved, so I'm not the only one.

the sound stuttering and being out of sync is caused by the graphics being set too high as the sound seems to be synced at 60fps so if you end up running slower the sound stutters to try to compensate.

I had this game running fine before. I was going to update my motherboard, but after getting the board installed, I was having serious issues. So I went back to my old board and did a fresh install of Vista x64 and ran all the updates, etc..SP1 and used the same drivers for gfx and video.
The game never installed a folder in the start menu the first time and again after the fresh install, so I went to the folder in computer>program files>ubisoft, etc., etc.. and copied the launcher to the desktop, select run in winxp compatibility mode and all was fine the first go around.
This time, however, the game will not launch and it tells me it needs the correct DVD in the drive....? I don't understand. I have the DVD in and yes, it's a legit copy from my local Best Buy.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated on how to fix this little dilemma.

The issues I have are with the PC edition (Assassin's Creed Directors Edition) in which when I install the game, everything goes fine, and according to the tick box system at the end of the installation I have all the right things, however when playing it, all I get is a white fuzzy screen (like when tv has bad reception) when on default settings, and when settings are placed at their highest, all I can see is the hair of the proffessor and lucy in the lab, and when actually playing in the crusade period just the outline of people as a shadow.

On top of this, I spent hours looking in to how to sort this out, in which most people said to download DX9 and to play the DX9 version. After finally finding a way to do this without having to reload windows itself, The game comes up with an error message when you play the AssassinsCreed_DX9 file on the game which is as below:

" This application has failed to start because EAX.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem "

So I downloaded it (despite thinking I already had it), it turned out I did have it, but I replaced it with the new one anyway. I reinstalled the game as also requested, and yet STILL the game does not play. Instead I just get a window saying the program is not responding and has to close (before anything has even happened)

I got assasins creed today, and I can't play it. When I wanted to play it the first time it asked to updaten so I installed the update. Then it complained with the following error message.

Cannot initialize Sound Driver

Your Sound-Driver is currently used by an other application.
Close any application using yout Sound-Driver and try again ...
else you'll not be able to hear any sounds or musics.


I tryed to reboot, I stopped all startup programs from within msconfig, I tryed the direct x 9 executable. Nothing works.

My system config is the following

Sound; Echo Digital Audio, Audio Fire 2 : driver date 30/04/2008

i have started playing assassin's creed recently and i have reached that mission in which al-mualim tells us to go to jureselam to assassinate our target their when i reach the castle of jureselam the game crashes back to windows i have tried uninstalling the game but it does not work i dont know what to do plzz help me i really wanna play this game till the end

firstly the jeruselem crash is a problem with pirate versions of the game if you have a leagal copy make a new thread with your problem and DXdiag.

i took the Doc's pen (access thingie), entered the animus, played for awhile... then, exited the animus and game.

problem is, this lil fact isnt registered coz i cant access the Doc's laptop, after finishing the game.


so, i started a new game, coz i read somewhere there's something worth reading in the Doc's laptop, and coz i dun mind re-playing from start to end.

i took his pen the second time, entered the animus, and played for a while. then, exited coz i had to... but when i resumed the game again at a later time, i saw that the Doc's pen is back there in his pocket, and the best part is, i cant take it again.

and wats up with the "you'll lose everything if u dun save" thingie? i mean, there ISN'T a save function anyway, other than ingame save points... which isnt available in the "real world" in the game anyway.

its not a bug its cause by your graphics card being below the system requirements so ubi wont spend time fixing it.
