OK so i been waiting for this game Assasin Creed DIRECTORS CUT EDITION for some months now and finally i got it today as im posting this. So ive installed it on my computer and registered it on ubisoft homepage, now damn im disapointed when trying to start the game, im getting a window that says this : Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application.

Help me PLEASE anyone, why is this happening?

God damn i dont feel like sending back the game to the store...

Sounds like a copy protection conflict with either your drive, or any disc copying or imaging software you may have installed.

Yep, I forecast it happening a long while back
I don't have the game yet, but if it uses the same protection as Settlers 6, there is a solution to the error.

Although many will still have to ask to get the solution... >_>

I don't really mind, or care, as long as people get to try out this game.

Plus, there may finally be the burst of idiots that used to exist on this forum in the past again! ^_^

Ha, yes I've always encountered that problem too but not with AC; I dont even have AC yet. I've seen it a lot on Rainbow Six Vegas (1).

My solution:

Eject the CD ROM
Insert
Try application again
When you get the error prompt (maybe)
Try the application again
Eject the CD ROM again
For craps and giggles, reboot the machine
Now try

If you have Windows Vista and the application shuts down on you submit that Microsoft Ticket, perhaps you need to download the Starforce drivers for Ubi games

Ubi stopped using Starforce a while back, on recent releases it's used SecuRom, sometimes with Tages as well

Visit Securoms homesite and download the latest securom files...should update your system and your games should run fine.

I had the same issue last night. I had to disable all of my virtual drives. And by that I don't mean just exiting the programs, but going into the options and turning off those virtual drives. There's a conflict apparently. Game ran fine after that.

i went into control panel, other option, programes, then currently running programes, shut them all down, and it still doesnt work..

anny improvements ?

i already returned my copy back to the store, and got a new one . installed it and still has the same problems.
and im an ass with working on cpu's .. so i have no id where to find all the virtual drives and stuff.

hope there will be a solution for this damn "insert correct cd-rom" problem.

randomly on sunday mine worked... but not it says i need the right cd again.. i dont understand, and think i will send my copy back and buy another one, and hope it works

It does say on the backside of the game that it may cause a conflict with your disc and/or virtual drives.

I had that problem with an other game, it doesn't matter how many times you return games and get another one for in return, the problem will be your disc or virtual drive probably.

Not that I'm an expert (far from it), but this seems a good explenation.
