I installed a retail DVD version, after around 30 minutes playing, it freezes, then the screen turns "blue" and white shadows. finally windows blue screen shows up saying dunping memory and the computer restarts.

tried latest drivers, no help...
any advices will be much appreciated

Some suggestions:
1. Update your X-Fi drivers to the 2.15.0006 (14 Mar 08) version
Start HERE for your specific model.

2. Make sure you have the latest Vista updates, even after SP1 there were some improving performance.

3. 3.6 Ghz is a quite hefty overclock on your Q6600, and you have disabled EIST and/or CE1 (even overclock at idle and load)... no matter the Zalman, possibly this overclock with disabled temp protection is the cause for your crashes. Clock it down. Try at 3.2 Ghz or even at stock and see if it gets better.
Also, you don't mention your PSU but make sure it is powerful enough.

4. Undo the overclock on your GF card, run it at stock, some models are even factory overclocked, so also try slightly underclocking. This has proven the fix for quite a few Geforce card users.

5. If after the previous steps, both the DX9 and DX10 version still crash the same way, it could also be the auto-update function. Disable it:

Try blocking the Updater in your (or Windows-) firewall.
Or, disconnect your Network (Internet) Connection.

I personally haven't had any problem related to the updater. I haven't disabled it and still running 100.1 version of the game.

Also, make sure no unneeded programs are running on the background, email notofications, anti-virus, systemprotection software etc.

6. If it still crashes, make sure your 3D settings in nVidia control panel are at default (so: let the application decide, or "application controlled")
