hey hey hey ! hold on both of you, my browser cache was not updating the web page so i saw the old one, i didn't see a cold war is already going on here, why you guys get annoyed with each other so easily ?

We all gather here to help each other out and share our point of views not to fight like kids.

To "silent_surfer":

I didn't saw your dxdiag previously, but now after reading it, it seems your system is not up to dated XP SP1 and DirectX 2005 can definately cause troubles with latest games like Assassins Creed, you need to update your system.

To "BlindNero":

Please have some patience and flexibility, we are here to help each other out. If we say Bye..Bye.. to each other on small conflicts then no one will benefit from this forum.

Let me tell both of you one thing, I am quiet an old user of UBISOFT, I registered in 2004 at the time of "Prince of Persia The Sands of Time", at that time no one fights like this on forums Profile like you guys are fighting right now on small conflicts, it seems the trend is changed now lols Too Happy

Please dont fight and be friends Glomp its a personal request.

With all due respect for Tahir_Munir I feel compelled to answer this.

Yes thats right. This GUY has SP1 but I have DX from march 2008. I don't know why thats not showing in DxDiag. But heres another report from nTune System Information:

nTune System Information

Now I have Crysis, Bewoulf, DRIVER PARALLEL LINES, Doom3, CoD4: MW other than AC. No problem in any one other than DRIVER PARALLEL LINES (freezing) and AC. I won't be able to play them on DX from Decem 2005, would I?

I know I will get SP2 sometimes soon But what I dont know whats the deal about SP3. Please see:

Oh. Yes. Proves that knowing about stuffs does not really make u a gentleman. At no point I said such a rude thing to anyone. But as u did please Google some more to know the difference between HotFixes and Updates.

Facts are here:
1. Before Patching I had random crashes but Now I have none so far.
2. Before Patching I experienced Freezing problems but thats gone too now.

So what u gonna call the patch: HotFix or Update ?

quote:
In silence i knew you would find this out sooner or later, you just had to.

Underlying meaning: See its ur system's Fault not ours. Thank god Our Program is OK.

From the Day 1 after three or four crashes, I knew that there will be a patch for this. So I stopped worring and completed CoD4 meantime. Now that I am done with that and the patch is out JIT I am playing AC now. But Not in a single post to any crash related problem U suggested this - Okay, there may be some problems. Please wait for Patch.

I did nothing no rolling back, no rushing to SP2, no downclocking (theres was no overclock), Only updated my Forceware that same day I applied the patch. Now I am ok.

This thing has gone to far and I want to end this right here. I am deeply sorry for anyones inconvenience, But I posted all those info so that I get suggestions from ppl who acctually knows better than me about Hardware, not to start a war. I didn't really needed any help in my Ten Years of Gaming (started with Borland's Price of Persia) other that Hardware issues. So U not helping me does not bother me much. What I look for is advises from Guys like Tahir_Munir

GPUs are designed to sustain much higher temperatures, for example today's Nvidia GPUs are designed to handle even 90 degrees C obviously it is not wise to keep a GPU around 90 all the time but it can take that, the temperature after which GPU shuts itself down to prevent damage is 110 degrees C

I really needed this info. How much Temp is too much. Thank you.

Edit:
This just came to my attention:

Thank you "Silent_Surfer" for that much appreciation Smile

I won't say anything more about this conflict because instead of cooling it down my words are working as fuel in the fire.

Anyway back to the topic, DirectX is the main component which any game requires above everything else, so try to keep it up to date. As you said that you have already updated it to latest version, it is ok now.

Whenever its convenient to you, try to upgrade your XP to service pack 2 because there are many bug fixes and performance improvements in service pack 2, the game (Assassins Creed) also requires XP service pack 2 in minimum requirements.

The game may work with XP SP1 but upgrading to SP2 will definitely benefit you. So whenever its possible for you go for it.

Last night browsing the internet I have discovered a cool program for stress testing any GPU. Its a great tool with alot of options to test your card.

Actually it is designed to test "DX9 Real-Time High-Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting".

Options include

1) Resolution control
2) Glare type
3) Depth of field control
4) Multisampling control upto 16x (Cool)
5) Refresh rate control
6) Fresnal Effects
7) Fullscreen view

and many more...

Its really nice to test your gfx lighting abilities with this great program, and the most surprising thing to see is how increasing multi sampling and depth of field adversely effects frames per seconds (fps).

I don't know whether you guys know about this tool or not but i think i should share it with you.

here is the URL: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

Enjoy stressing your graphics card. Wink2

Dude I am a bit confused now. Are we talking about XP 32 bit version or 64 bit version. As can see below that I have the 64 bit Version. I know XP (32) before Service pack 2 was pretty much a load of ****. But what about XP (64) Service pack 2, which is really a service pack for Windows Server 2003.

Anyway. Thanks for the software. Definitely gonna check it out.

XP Pro X64 is the most unsuported version of windows ever even with service pack 2 is strugles as it is trying to convert a 32bit system into a 64bit system. the only good 64bit OS is vista as now people are suporting it more than the 32bit version.

Somehow I totally agree with u on this. But XP Pro x64 has been so far OK for me (Can't use 32 bit versions, cuz Windows refuses to see my 4G Ram) and don't have the Vista 64 Edition. So I have much too little options choosing other OS. That brings a question to mind, Does not MacOS users play game. I have hardly seen a game for MacOS. Smile

mac users play games but they use a program called boot camp that allows them to install windows on a mac. as mac OS works with next to nothing as it is purly ment as a base for things like graphic design.

Here I am talking about XP 32bit, to be honest I don't really know much about 64bit operating systems. I have used two operating systems (XP and Vista) both 32bit versions, the reason i stick to 32bit operating systems is that they are still considered as good operating systems and they don't cause any trouble with older applications and the performance difference b/w 32bit and 64bit is almost negligible.

Obviously 64bit operating systems will out perform 32bit operating systems in future as more and more 64bit optimized applications will hit the market, but for now i stick to 32bit Smile

As far as service pack 2 is concerned it is only applicable to Windows XP 32bit (All editions). It is not applicable on Windows XP 64bit.

I think your operating system is ok now, as you have applied the patch 1.02 (Assassins Creed) which includes the support of x64 versions of windows, it will work fine now.

Sorry I forgot that your operating system was 64bit and suggested you to apply SP2 in previous post. I think there is no need for any more updates now.

Sorry for double posting but i need to ask one question from you "silent_surfer".

You mentioned in one of your previous posts that you have played "Beowulf" game, I need to ask how the game is ? I am planning to get this game but the PC rating for the game is quite low and that makes me uncertain about the game. Is it good to get this game or its just waste of money and time ?

Please tell me about graphics, levels and game play. Sorry for asking to much at a time.

Thank you friend. Smile

Anytime. About Beowulf - Visually the game is stunning and gonna need a lot of system power. I think its more resource hungry than AC itself, So u get the picture. But it really goes down with the gameplay. Its funny to say the least. I never played much of RPG before but So far I like the graphics (Really liked the movie).

To me these are the sorts of game u want to play inbetween AC and Crysis. Nonsense story, no real gameplay (that explains the low ratings) but stunning graphics. There u have my review of this. Hope this helps.

Hmmm... Thanks for the review. I got the picture now, visually stunning game but no focus on gameplay and story.

I have played many boring/repetitive games with good graphics for example "Infernal" but I enjoy the visuals thats a plus about such games, will also try this one.

Here I want to make a correction, its not a RPG game its a 3rd person action game. Just correcting it because otherwise in future you will always think that RPG games are mess and I dont want you to think that because RPG games are great! Smile

If you are planning to get any RPG soon, i suggest you go for "The Witcher", must say its a great RPG game I have played in my life with beautiful graphics, lots of NPCs to talk, variety of environments to explore and stunning combat all with great replay value. Wait till 28 May a new "The Witcher Enhanced Edition" is releasing. Try it if you are planning to enter in RPG genre.

Anyway thanks again for the review it really helped. Smile
