Hi to all.

I decided to open a new thread since most similar threads are hijacked and gone in wrong way. Also there are quite few threads where ppl do not have min. requirements for this game, this is not the case here, and i would like explanation from UBISoft if possible.

I must say that i am really disappointed with UBISoft, AC is 2nd game from UBI which has random crashes on my comp, and i am sure it is not HW issue.
1st game is RS Vegas, i've never completed that game due constant random crashes, same thing with AC. Strangely, R6V2 is working like charm.

Now before you start to moaning at me please read further.

I am not noob in computers, not software or hardware. I have one machine for gaming only, here are specs:

E 8400, Scythe Ninja Rev.B, Abit IX38 Quad GT,
4x1 GB Crucial Balistix 8500@1066 5-5-5-15,2.1v
MSI NX8800 GT, Thermalright HR-03 GT, X-Fi XtremeGamer
Thermaltake Armor Jr., Corsair HX620w
Hitachi 320GB Sata 2, Hitachi 160GB SATA
Logitech G5 Mouse,Ideazon Zboard Gaming Keyboard Speedlink Medusa 5.1 ProGamer Headset
Samsung SM206BW
WinXP32

As you can see, it is more than enough for AC, not to mention R6V.

As i said it is gaming only rig, so i am keeping it at top form all the time.
Meaning: all drivers, BIOS, firmwares etc. are last ones, after every driver reinstall or game install/reinstall i clean registry and defragment HDs, also when i am reinstalling drivers i am using Driver Cleaner Pro, weekly virus check, and spyware check...

My computer is 24hrs prime stable, CPU max temp is 59 C under full load (Coretemp), max GPU temp. during 3 hrs of Crysis is 58 C (NVMonitor log)

Before starting any game i shut down firewall, antivirus, and some other processes not needed for gaming, like schedulers etc.

Now, it is another 50USD given to UBISoft for nothing (without handling costs which are bigger then game itself, but it is my problem, not UBISoft problem), and i think for 100$ i deserve at least someone from UBI to answer me.

Why don't you just quit PC games and stop making fools of us?

I am pissed off, because all i get for my money is sometimes 5, sometimes 10, and sometimes even 45 Clap minutes of playing and then this:

This is happening everywhere, it is totally random, happened with different drivers, and with settings from lowest to highest. And i must hard restart my comp after that.

If i buy TV, it won't happened to me to wait for some part to work (patch here)
If i buy car, the seller won't tell me "It will go, just change the wheels."
I could go like that on and on, but point is in the words "If i buy" , same here, i bought games from you, and i am expecting them to work, right out of box, i don't care for your problems, i payed for those products. My money was real when you took it, you can buy staff for them, this moment i made transaction, Why i can not play the games i bought for that money not just right out of box, i can't play them at all?

You are complaining about piracy, well, think again about it. Who is real pirat or better who is cheater here?
You cheated 100s 1000s ppl and earned millions of $ with semiproducts.
Your admins and moderators here do not answer to questions, they do not even car about breaking forum rules, all your support can say is "try different drivers".
All this is one big spoof, and we are fools who baits the hook over and over. How long it will last, we will see.

For the end, here is my DxDiag, so if it can help you to fix this game, if anyone is working at this at all:

1. Overclocked your videocard? The symptom in your picture indicates too high memory speed and/or overheat. Not overclocked?: then check no dust is clogged in the ventilation. Check if your PC-case isn't too small, possibly has bad airflow?

2. The game is very graphic memory intensive. Downclocking the videomemory a little could do wonders.

3. You use beta drivers. Why? Stick to the WHQL for GF8xxx series.

4. Your dxdiag is not complete. Make sure your DirectX9.0c is updated to the latest version (April 2008).

5. Have no antivirus running on the background while installing/running the game, and no unnecessary programs starting up with Windows.

Why fgs do you blame the game??? Then i would have the same problem, everybody would have the same problem as you.

1. Video card is factory overclocked, no problem with any other games except UBISoft games.
Please read my spec, and temps measured. Case is Thermaltake Armor Jr. quite big and with good airflow with additional vents inside. GPU temp when game crashes is 55C (logged with NVMonitor), highest temp my GPU go is 58 C, i think it's way below 8800 can handle.

2.Not more then Crysis, or even CoD4. I have no problem with them at all, or Witcher etc.

3. Those are last i tried, believe me, i tried all from 169.xx till 175.16 (last beta i downloaded yesterday)

4. I have no idea why dxdiag is not complete, i copy pasted whole, maybe message is too long. But yes, they are the latest, except i can not find april 2008, the newest i found are march 2008. I looked at MS download center.
If you have link for newer, can you please post a link here.

5. Have you read my post at all, yes i am doing all that and more, its gaming only rig in top form with all drivers, BIOS, firmwares etc. up to date. With all unnecessary programs turned off.

I am not blaming a game, i am blaming UBISoft for selling semiproducts, i have similar problem with R6V, not green screen like here, but random ctd, also not playable at all.
You do not have that problem, and many others do not have it, but they have some other problem(s) (sound, texture, pixelization...) there are zillion different problems, because game is not optimized for PC. And that is what i am talking about here.
I know its much bigger job to do proper PC optimization then make game for console, but thats their problem, if they are not able to do that then they should quit this business and stick with consoles.
As i said before, when i am buying something i expect to work, or be eatable or whatever.

Thanks for trying to help, but i do not have habit to moan on forums for nothing, i am not some frustrated kid (i am 36 and gaming from ZX Spectrum in 80's).
I am posting after i am 100% sure that problem is not with me. And this is the case here. For the 2nd time with same company. So i am pissed with reason.

Take care.

My self. Same issue. Decent setup. Can run cod4 and crysis no problem. I have seen countless issues with the pc release of this game. The first problem I had was no voice. Could hear the music, everything else was fine, no voice.

To fix that.control Panel...sounds and audio devices properties.....voice.....advanced.....preformance.
.....Put hardware acceleration to basic acceleration. That gave me back the voice.

Still crashes sometimes. Seems like the pc games are turning more like microsoft. Get it out the door, get the cash....then let the patching start.

You would think a huge company like ubisoft would test there games. As buggy as this release was, it just apears testing was not done.

Paid 50 bucks and took a week to figure out how to get the voice to work. Tons of looking...forms were no help. I have NOOO problem paying the cash for a game. I can forsure see why people pirate it. At least they know if it works or not before paying the 50 bucks for a game that may turn out unplayable.

@ Itsme1972: make sure that in your nVidia control panel the settings for 3D are set to not configured or 'let the application decide' or similar.

... the quickest route to that information is the game's Readme:

* If using Realtek High Definition Audio, Soundmax HD Audio, or nForce Audio, you
may experience sound anomalies. To work around the problem, reduce the Hardware
acceleration slider to 'Basic' in the Windows Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio
Devices -> Audio tab -> Advanced -> Performance tab.

Exactly what i am talking about, they are selling semiproduct, and without any shame they announce you that you will probably have some problems. So they know that game is not optimized and in spite of that they are selling it.
But, that announcement is not on shiny box, you can read it when you open their product.
My advice is, less money in shiny packages with "buy me i have great graphic" pictures, less money in payed reviews and more money in programmers, testers and optimization.

Anything I can suggest is pretty much blown out of the water due to the fact that you don't have problems with other games.

Your "green screen" does, in my opinion, look more like a hardware problem than a software-related one.

I took a look at all the Crucial PC2-8500 models at Newegg and they all show a stock voltage of 2.2v not 2.1v. If that's true, why are you running at 2.1v?

And, all the models of Crucial PC2-8500 there get mostly very bad reviews from owners who complain of failure and high heat. Of course, your set may be just fine - as shown by the fact that you play a bunch of other games with no problems.

What's troubling is that your rig is very similar to mine but I have no problems. I have an E2180 with a vicious overclock, an 8800GTS 512 with a slight overclock and I use an X-Fi XtremeGamer as well. XP Pro 32-bit here.

I had one crash in AC related to my sound drivers so I auto-updated to Creative's latest "web update 5" and have had no more problems.

Like I said, all my suggestions can't explain why other games have no problems but here are some things I would try.

- run with two sticks of RAM instead of four and see if AC runs fine. Keep swapping sticks through all combinations.

- run a RAM tester utility overnight. Of course, since you can run Prime95 forever, this one is a loooong shot.

- try running the artifact tester in ATI Tool to stress your card. Yes, it works with Nvidia cards.

- I'm sure a lot of people have problems because the state of their operating system is a steaming pile of **** to which I recommend they do a fresh OS install at least every 9 months. But since you're "tech", I'm guessing that you do a fresh install at least once a year.

The only Ubi game I really had problems with was Splinter Cell Double Agent - but then so did the rest of the world. It truly was a POS. But I'm sure you treat your rig the same way I do mine. Wish I had more suggestions to offer.

You should also update your Win XP to SP3, it has a lot of hot fixes included, while SP3 may not fix your particular problem, it doesn't hurt to have everything updated.

Ive looked at that manual several times, so the ol lady. Still don't see that setting change. I posted in the "offical asssassins creed forum" http://forum.assassinscreedx.com/ No one ever said a word.

All I can do is hope the release of far cry 2 goes better than this one. Or I will just give up on buying anymore ubi soft games. I can live with one buggy release, things happen.

I will always wonder if they knew they were gonna have lots of problems with this release. Right after I bought the game and started to install, I was looking all over for the "key" I was almost sure I needed. Never found it, never needed it. I would think everyone would agree thats just odd to release a game with having to put in a key.

There's no key, because the game has no online play option, so an online key isn't necessary.

@Itsme: not to rain on your temp parade but the card temp is only the core temp of the actual GPU so the memory could actualy be over heating but since its not monitored like the core it give no temp warning.

Very good point!! If you put a gun to my head and gave me only one guess as to what's causing the "green screen", I'd blurt out "something with your video RAM!" Probably the majority of times, any sort of screwy pattern on the screen in a game has to do with the VRAM.

Of course, this will all be trumped by "but it works fine in all my other games."
