Ok this is a bit strange. Here's a personal screenshot I took myself of playing Assassin's Creed.


Now we can clearly see the prayer mat 90% of the mat is hanging down with only 10% of the mat clipped to the top.

Now my question is this. Why is he not falling off when I am clearly holding my hands on the mat?

In theory if this was in real life and someone actually tried to hold on to the Prayer Mat like it is displayed here by logic it must slip-off!!

Why is he not slipping off and not falling to the ground?! You'd expect that if this was something realistic, the prayer mat should slide off due to the gravity of the person holding himself on top of the prayer mat.

And this isn't happening, I tried this with several places in the game where the prayer mat was being layed onto the ledge of a particular place.

Things like this need sorting out for Assassins Creed 2, that's my advice for Ubisoft developing team!

it might be nailed to the floor, and generaly they are just there to show jump points, so you can dive off a roof into the hay or something

Yeah but they can't be all nailed to the floor, some ofcourse will simply be layed like that. If they were nailed to the floor, say clipped, etc then I understand it won't slide off.

But in this case its not, its just hanging in there.
I know its only a video game but it probably would've been even more exciting had it been in like in real life.

I know it can show jump points, etc.
But that people would know by common sense by looking at ledges.

But what if we had an option like this in the game where we could place the prayer mat laying abouts like that so that you can escape from enemies?

If say you were in a place somewhere dangerous where the enemies are running after you to kill you in the game, you should have an option to lay the prayer mat somewhere near the edge, so that the moment the enemy tries to climb up the ledge, he'll then fall off due to the prayer mat slipping and thus dying instantly.

This would be a great feature to add for AC2, so that I can escape from dangerous situations.

But I doubt whether this will happen in near future.

all it is, is to show the player were to jump or it would make you die alot more often as you would come to an edge and have to stop to look were to jump next, but with the mats you can seeit from a distance and run for it and dive.

He's not holding onto the mat but onto the ledge. He grabs the ledge and holds onto the wood beneath the mat and doesn't hold the mat itself. That's why he doesnt slip away

Altair is in prayer, the camera is just tilted 90 degrees.

What the haystack is doing on the wall, I don't know. Must be a glitch or something...

Jesus, let's just say it's a bug, maybe it would be a good idea for AC that when you jump on the carpet and only graping it you could drop down with it.
