Hi, I recently have purchased the game Heroes of Might and Magic 5. I download everything fine. I start up the game, Menu/graphics/ everything is working perfectly. However when i try to start a campaign or custom game, the bar loads up, and right after when the game is sopposed to begin, I get a error from Microsoft saying that there is a error. And i get the choice to send a message to microsoft, blah blah blah. I do not understand why this is happening. I tried to look at other people's posts and everyone is talkign about these patches. Which ones do I need? as i checked out that page and it is a long list of nonsense to me. Please help, thank you

1. Which H&MM 5 do you have ? The original one (version 1.0) OR the most recent one (version 3.0 : "Tribes of the East") ?

2a. If you have TotE (3.0), it cannot be patched because no patch has yet been released.

2b. If you have the original HM&M 5 (1.0), you must identify which edition you have to get the specific patches for your specific edition.

There is no nonsense on the Ubisoft patch-download webpage ... if you know the edition ID codes !

If you examine the list, there, you will see that each patch version (for example : 1.01) has different editions. The code, then, is this :

cz = Czech edition
cz pl collector = Czech + Polish Collector's edition
eu = European editiom
eu collector = European Collector's edition
eu sp it = Spanish + Italian edition
hu pl = Hungarian + Polish (non-collector) edition
pl = Polish (non-collector) edition !?
ru = Russian edition
us = North American edition (USA/Canada)

Once you know which edition you have, you download the corresponding 1.01 .exe. This first patch installs an automatic patching programme in your game. Then, you can get all other patches from that function : the programme will download & install them for you ... until it reaches version 1.6.

Personally, I downloaded from Ubisoft all 7 patches for my US edition (1.01 + 1.02 + 1.03 + 1.04 + 1.041 + 1.05 + 1.06) because I prefered to install them myself, in case the automatic programme got interrupted -- it's more tedious, but safer, to do it manually.

This being said ... even if it is highly recommended that you update to version 1.6, it does not guarantee that you will see your problem fixed ... because the problem you have described can be caused by interference coming from within your machine (not from within the HM&M 5 programme).

First patch to 1.6, try again, and come back here if your problem still happens after patching. We would then have to do some more tedious troubleshooting efforts.

yeah i have the same problem except i have tried to apply the patch but it says that heroes doesnt exist...
which it does...

huh.. there can be different explanations for that one, one is that the game isn't where the patch normally looks because you installed it somewhere else.

or there could be some registry problems.. have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling adnd then trying to apply the patch ?

My game crashes after finishing mission 4 in The Queen campaign. It happens everytime after end-mission cinematics (when Agrael shows for the first time).

I've got HoMM V Collectors Edition patched to 1.60 version and two installed add-ons (HoF and TotE).

Anybody has the same problem? Any suggestions how to deal with the crashing problem?

well im not using vista
part of the problem is i dont really know anything about my sytem or homam5
what specifically do u need to no?

Well start up run, then type dxdiag, save the information it gives you and post it here, then we might see what the problem is.

I've reinstalled the game, but it didn't change anything. The game still crashes at the same moment. Saves don't seem to be corrupted... Well, perhaps I'll try restart the mission once more from the beginning, maybe that'll help?

I'm using Win XP with latest graphic drivers.

Just a short note to say that, I think, the problem is not related to my own PC, but it depend on the latest patches.

In fact, I have reinstalled the version 1.0 of the game and the problem does not occur.

i have the same problem. bar loads, then crashes. cant get the thing to work. very frustrating.
