When i bought this game it didn't work. When i started to search i found that my card IS NOT SUPPORTED!!! It's because this stupid programmers from nival can't do anything. As i looked this site i found that there are lots of such problems with other cards. In this case i just must say that the game was made by full idiots, morons and imbeciles, I have to add that it was made by russian firm and that i am russian. But i searched internet and found file which fixed this bug. At least game started and i made some moves by hero on the map, i have not checked more yet.

there also is printed that you have to do some changes in user.cfg file, but i didn't found this file and didn't do these changes, everythig work without them/ Here they are:

setvar gfx_texture_mip = 1 ( or 2, then will be smaller textures)
setvar gfx_tnl_mode = 1
setvar gfx_fsaa = 0
setvar gfx_fullscreen (try 0 or1)
setvar gfx_resolution set smaller.

Now i've won 2 levels of campaign and everything is fine, but i found that multiplayer and hot seat don't work. I really want to kill those who made this game

I made some research and that what i found. To fix bug that GeForce MX is not supported should be changed ONLY ONE (!!!) byte in file H5_Game.exe. To do this simply open this file (original, which was created during installation, not that one i said to download before) in any 16 editor and find this line

51 56 8b f1 8b 4e 08 2b 4e 04 8b 46 28 c1 f9

It should be changed to this

c3 56 8b f1 8b 4e 08 2b 4e 04 8b 46 28 c1 f9

So you only need to type "C3" instead "51"
That's all!! Everything is working, single and multiplayer.

If you don't have such program, you can use program i used. It is called HexEditor, here:

Just open exe file by this program, press
Edit->find..., type there "51 56 8b f1 8b 4e 08 2b 4e 04 8b 46 28 c1 f9", and change 51 to c3, then save result and enjoy))

Your previous exe didn't work for hotseat and such cause it's a 0.9 version exe. (That means it's from the demo).
I guess your solution is the only way for people with mx to run the game.
Can you upload the exe?.

I've just uploaded my "corrected" exe file to rapidshare.de, so if you have problem with your video card, you can try to use this file instead of original exe

If it doesn't help, then try to change 51 to c3 as i said before, because maybe my exe file will not work because it's from russian version of the game.

Want to add that i checked how game works with my corrected exe file and single and hot seat works 100%

I can't find this line of code! Just my luck to have the one card that doesn't work properly, and not to read the requirements properly! Tried to download the link and that doesn't work either. Any more advice?

It won't work! I download the .exe file provided by dentist, but the game not start! I think this is because he use russian version, but mine is english.

And about serching the code, it won't work either. It seems you can't type in all the numbers in a single line. After you type in 8 pairs of number, you go to second line, and the second line you only type 7 pairs of numbers. I suppose it should be 16 pairs of numbers total.Is there something missing, dentist?

By the way, I download the former .exe file and it works! Only you can't play multiplayer. I really hope dentist can upload a english version, or clarify how to use the search function.

Can anyone tell me what the block number is for this piece of code? Or does this differ between each game? I never usually have to go this deep into gaming so I'm kinda new to this!

I've downloaded english version of heroes 5 by torrent, it didn't work on my computer as russian version didn't, but after i corrected

everything is working. So this line presents in every version of this file and if you didn't found it that means you did something wrong. So if you still cannot find this line in your version of file just mail me your exe file, i'll do this change and mail it back to you. But before this try to use this file. It is from english version. I have corrected it in hex editor and as i checked my eng version of the game works with it

As i found this exe works with my russain version also so i think it is universal for all versions. Everybody whose game closes during loading screen shoud try to use this exe file. If you have problem with downloading it from rapidshare, i've uploaded it to depositfiles.

I take that back, the file seems to work well. Thank you very much. Will post as and when I've discovered how well its working! Thats saved me some decent money anyway.

Yes! I download the file from rapidshare and it works!! Now I can play single player and multiplayer. This file really help. Thank You dentist!

One thing I want to mention, dentist, is that your efforts not only save those GF MX player, but all laptop computer users too. My laptop is P4 1.8, 512RAM, GeForce 4 440 Go 64M graphic Card. I suppose this card= Geforce 4 Ti series, so it should run the game. In the past I can installed any other games (requirement is GF4 Ti)without any problem. But when I know this stupid Ubisoft won't support the laptop version i nearly want to cry! Now the game run in my computer smoothly. I tune up my resolution to 1588x1200, Very High graphic, and the game still playable without crush or series lag(although the loading time is long, due to my 512RAM). That means my graphic card can support the game, only Ubisoft don't want you to play with this low-end card. How come other game developers willing support both GF4 and its laptop varients, but not Ubisoft!!!!I think this is the same case in GF4 MX. Just like you, I really want to kill those Ubisoft guys.

I think you should open another thread to announce this solution, dentist. I checked over the board in the past few days, and try every method the ppl said. But the game still crushed when loading. Now your solution is the sole and easiest method for those low-end graphic card user to play the game. The new post should be sticky too.

I'm very glad that i've managed to solve this problem and now me and lots of other people could play this game which i very like, but i want to correct you: developer of this game is Nival, not Ubi, so all mistakes and bugs were made by programmers from Nival, Ubi is only a publisher, and when they make something by themself i never have any problems with their products.

Opp...I make a mistake

Next time when I buy a game, I would be more careful about who develop it. If I see the logo of Nival, I think I won't buy it anymore.
