Bought Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and the two add-ons from Steam yesterday. I only installed the original game so far and stumbled on a problem with the product key Steam gave me.
The product key is like this HM5-ABCD-ABCD-ABCD-ABCD
When i go to Multiplayer and it asks me to enter the product key, I can't type all the letters, the last 3 characters can not be entered. I've tried without hyphens and without the - signs but no deal.
Try leaving the HM5 out of the code and see what happens.
If this does not resolve the problem, try contacting Ubisoft Technical Support and provide a screenshot of the screen you are trying to enter this information onto.
I may be able to post a screenshot when I get to my home computer tonight, but really I should be able to describe it completely adequately right now.
This is HOMM5 - not one of the expansions. From the main menu I click multiplayer, then I click ubi.com, then the screen appears asking for an "online key".
I assume this is the serial key that was provided to me by steam since this is the only one I have.
When typing your CD Key - try using the numbers located along the top of your keyboard when entering numbers. Do not use the number keypad on the right-hand side of the keyboard. Does this resolve the problem?
Actually there are no numbers at all inside my key aside from the HM5 prefix.
Although I have literally tried all these combinations already - out of curiousity...
1. Is are the first group (HM5) suppose to be included? 2. Are the hyphens suppose to be included? 3. Does this need to be uppercase or lowercase?
I suspect that everyone who bought hm5 from steam is having this exact same problem and the problem is the key itself provided by steam.
Any more information here? If it is as i suspect a problem for everyone who bought this from steam (only recently available) then this really needs to be solved asap.
The steam keys should be fine. There are only two of you on this thread running into the problem.
1. The HM5 is supposted to be included 2. The hyphens should be included 3. Uppercase letters should be used
Aside from the possibility of the numbers on the number keypad being seen as unicode characters, you should be able to enter the characters in its entirety.
This is not a common issue. It may be unique to the digital download or Steam installation. Are you using a special keyboard? Try using a PS2 keyboard - the 5$ kind you can find OEM.
Contact Steam tech support and see if this is a common issue with the Steam download. You can also contact Ubisoft Technical Support and we can take a look at your computer information at an individual level.
