hi there...
could anyone tell me if Tribes of the East works on local network multiplayer?
when I create a multiplayer game with a network human player connected, it starts ok, goes on for a few minutes, then starts slowing down, eventually disconnecting... it only happens with Tribes of the east, not with the original game and hammers of fate, they're ok...
did anyone have this kind of problem with ToE ? please give a hint...

I also experience that kind of problem with ToE.

I can play the basic H5 and the HoF expansion without any difficulty, on the home LAN (with two machines).

From the start, the new ToE expansion has been associated with 2 major problems :

1. The A.I. players take too long to process their turns (even on a map that is not too big, even if the host machine is a 3.4 GHz Pentium D)...

2. ... and the worst is that one of the A.I. players eventually gets stuck -- the game cannot then proceed any further, even after a reload.

We encounter no such problem, on the LAN, with HoF 2.01, and we experience no problem whatsoever when playing ToE 3.00 on a single machine.

Go figure : What happened to the network code between 2.01 and 3.00 ?!

You are not alone, then : other forum users have reported ToE's problematic LAN multiplayer. I have yet to learn a solution to this strange situation. Consequently, we are forced to play MP in the hot-seat mode : that works fine, and the A.I. players' turns are swifter.

Obviously, the problem seems to be related to the management of the data-flow between the comps, on a LAN. Go figure : We can play intense RTS games which require much more intensive data exchange, per second. This TBS game should be much easier to manage.

I'm glad to hear that Sorceress has success playing HOF on LAN. I have problems like Dunechild. The kids and I USED to be able to play HOMM V up to patch 1.03. When I bought the HOF for the puters, we updated all the patches and haven't been able to play LAN since.

@ DeejMaster1 :

Would you care to describe what specific problems you now experience (not being able to play on a LAN after patch 1.03) ?
