Alright I have a issue to show and I found the answer and if this answer don't work then a work around solution answer too.
Specs for the PC's I used this with: -Windows Vista Home premium -All min requirements meet or go over min recommended requirements -NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS (Possibly any other Cards too) If you install your game fully and install all patches 1.01 through to 1.06 and you start up your game and see how pretty it is then all the sudden the graphic objects start to blink for no reason at all? This may also only start to happen when you start the game up or go into a battle... may take a few minutes too before it acts up. Here are a few solutions: ---Solution 1--- -Step1- Don't touch the default video and graphics settings in game just exit the game completly. -Step2- You may have not noticed this but if you LET Windows Vista update or install the drivers for your NVIDIA Graphics card then it may have installed a "****" version of it just to make it work. You can check this by using the DxDiag run command to see what version driver it's running. Go to this address to do this step: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4611096804/m/3311084336 Once looking at the information from the DxDiag, look at Display Devices it may look like the following: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) Driver Name: nvd3dum.dll,nvapi.dll Driver Version: 7.15.0010.9686 (English) DDI Version: 9Ex Mainly heres what you do to update the driver right. -Step3- If you have the Video Card drive CD USE IT... Vista may kill the program on the CD though so if that happens then do the following: -Step4- Go to Start -Step5- Go to Control Panel -Step6- Go to Hardware and Sound -Step7- Go to Device Manager -Step8- Display adapters > NVIDIA ______ -Step9- Right click and click update driver software... -Step10- Search Automatically (This should update the driver the right way this time. The screen will deform but thats standard.) -Step11- Open the game and see if it works. If it looks okay open a game up and pan around and rotate and tilt the screen really fast... Should fix it. (This don't work I recommend 1st checking the driver and card name in DxDiag again and if same as before update driver again and then still no go to NVIDIA Website and ask for it.) If none of these work move to solution 2 ---Solution 2--- -Step1- Go into the game and turn the graphics down. -Step2- Exit the game. -Step3- Restart the game. ---Solution 3 / Work around--- -Step1- Go into the game and reset / Default the graphic / video graphics -Step2- Exit the game. -Step3- Right click the .exe program on desktop or where ever it may be. -Step4- Go to Properties. -Step5- Go to Compatibility Tab. -Step6- Check the "Run this Program in Compatibility mode for: -Step7- Drag the down arrow and select the next operating system down from your version. I.E.: from Windows XP (Service pack2) which is currently standard even though your using Vista and select the next one up the list which is Windows 2000. Then Click apply and OK. -Step8- Start the game up and see if it's fixed. (The program may say the CD is not in the drive which you'll need to eject and put it in or if it is in just close it and exit the startup run program that the CD runs when inserted.) -Step9- If not fixed repeat this process. Mine finally worked on Windows 95. -Step10- If you are backed down to Windows 95 then heres the crappy work around... The game should play for a few minutes up to 1/2 hour then blink all over again... This happens in game ever or even online play just press Alt+Tab together to switch to desktop or another window... (BTW it helps to exit all other running programs) -Step11- Wait a few seconds and click the game up again and it should run for another random set of time. It seems like over all the computer can only take so much before it runs out of memory or some sort... maybe the driver isen't able to access all the on board memory on the card. or something... I do know my CPU (processor) is running 100% on both of them (Dual Core) and my RAM on the PC is 50-55%. I also tried turning my paging files up and setting it to page between 3000-3000 to keep it still and high... which was what the prompt also recommend in Vista... but I don't think it played a part in fixing anything. So I hoped this helped anyone that could be suffering the same issues. Have fun all and good luck. |

Thanks a lot : writing such a detailed, technical post takes time !
Concerning Step 8, I am somewhat surprised : I believed that version 1.06 did not require the CD in the drive to launch -- the SecuRom check was disabled for gameplay. |

Thanks :-)
On the step 8 thing... even if the patch is in; the compitiblity option over rides that thing for some reason. |
