As in the subject, I have just installed HoMM V with the 1.5 patch...Game works fine even though graphic quality is not 100%...Only HUGE problem: cannot save the game! I try to but during the screen shows briefly " Cannot save game"...The first time I actually found out cause I went back to play and there was no game at all.

Any suggestions? Clue? How can I solve the problem?

I cannot help you on this one because I have NO knowledge & experience whatsoever with "Mac" computers -- which is also the case of 99% of this forum's users, who play the game on "Windows" computers.

Also : I have read a lot of posts, on this forum, for the past 2½ years, and I do not recall that other people ever encountered such a "Cannot save game" message.

It is perhaps a problem & message specific for the Mac version of the game, which is played by very few people.

I do not know where the Mac version created the directory & folders where the save-game files should be stored by default. But you should try to find if such a location exists on your hard-drive.

To save a game by an automatic, default procedure (which is how HM&M 5 handles saving : it does not give the user the power to save elsewhere than the default folder), you of course need to have the required directory & folders already set-up (which should have been taken care of by the original installation of the game).

The save-game files are associated to a personal "profile" : check that you do play the game under a specific profile.

I'm just throwing ideas : I have NO experience in HM&M 5 troubleshooting for Mac computers.

Please report on this thread if you learn how to fix your problem : it would be useful for other "Mac" users.

freeverse has forums for mac heroes 5 where these issues are dealt with.

Answer: Dont use spaces in your profile name

Hey, I know its a little late, but I had this problem too and just fixed it. What you have to do is go to the HOMM V folder in Library (just search for Heroes) and go to Profiles -> your username and in the folder for your user there should be a folder called 'Saves'. If your saving isn't working, this folder is most likely not there. Just make a new folder and call it 'Saves' (no quotations) and it should work!
